| Hemmorhagic Gastritis My poor Lilly has been in the vet hospital with bloody stools. She had to stay for I'V fluids and antibiotics but she is doing fine now..my vet thinks it was caused by eating a rawhide bone someone gave her at work.. She say that these harbor bacteria and cause problems for little dogs. Lilly is small at 4.5 lbs and get sick very quickly. I have never given her rawhide but have used bully sticks which my vet says can cause the gastritis as well. Just wanted to be sure everyone knows so another little Yorkie does not get sick! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am glad Lilly is feeling better. My Cali had it twice. I think she was getting sick from chewing on the hooves. I stopped giving them any chew type treats to help prevent it.

| Glad your baby is doing well. I think any kind of chew cam harbor bacteria and cause this. Thanks for the warning

| Hi I'm a Newby to Yorkietalk and to Yorkies .... my little baby Max is in the hospital as we speak. He (we) were up all night....he threw up twice and had the runs, that after the forth time resulted in some blood in his stool. The Vet put him on an IV to re hydrate and drew blood. He does not have pancreatitis, but she said he must have ingested something that irritated his bowels. He is only 9 months....I'm worried something terrible will happen to him! We are so careful ... he doesn't get any raw hide or chewy things, minimal treats, etc., what else can we do? Any one else have a similar puppy? |

| My Alice has suffered with HG twice... the 3rd time i noticed the symptoms really early and was able to intervene /cut it off at the pass with these tips from a friend who is a vet: ~Immediately switch to a bland diet ~pepcid ac (check with your vet but mine said to give her a 1/2 tablet 2x a day) ~pedialyte to help keep her hydrated (i have to force feed it to her with an eye dropper) ~antibiotics (my vet called in a scrip for a course of antibiotics right away) It seemed to work and she did not have to be hospitalized the 3rd time... xoxo sb |
