We took Elle to the pet store to look for the dog food that the vets are switching her to, from the I/D soft dog food she is on. They want Royal Canin Low Fat dry dog food. So we didn't find it at the pet stores. After researching more on the internet,I have come to find out that it looks like the vet will have to get it for me, then I buy it from them, since it is only available by perscription.

But she is still doing good. She jumped up on the couch, for the first time in 2 weeks, today. She is wagging her rear end and tail alot more. She just seems like she is feeling so much better.

One thing I have noticed, that she has never done before, is that she HATES the sun. She runs for shade. Thank god we have a tree in the back yard, or I dont think she would go potty. haha. But she pants alot when outside, or in the car when the sun is out. She never used to be this way.

But this vet can't explain the calcium deposits. Her bile duct is filled with thick bile and they have her on meds to thin it out. She is hooked up to IV's as we speak, and if I can be totally honest, I don't think I have ever been in so much pain and grief than I am right now. My vet is not very optimistic about her outcome, due to the amount of calcium deposits, her liver enzymes, and the pancreatitis causing everything to be inflamed. I can't even begin to say how much this is killing me. If anyone has a similar case, please share any info. I want to save my lil girl. She is to young to be taken away from me!! I also saw the possible Chushings diagnosis. I had a dog that was diagnosed with it and lived quite a good/long life afterwards.

I know this sounds horrible of me to say, but I just want an answer. I hate not knowing.

Thanks everyone for the prayers again. I'm hoping this time she doesnt get as sick as last time. She ddidnt look bad, and she was barking like crazy when I was leaving. It was really cute, cause her and another dog were barking back and forth. I wonder what they were saying to one another. :)

Keeping Elle in my prayers. Did your vet think maybe a specialist might be where you need to go so that you can get a good diagnosis and know one way or another?

My vet has stayed in contact with the teaching hospital vet. So hopefully we are closer to a diagnosis.

Has she ever had a Bile Acid Test done? This will test her liver function. And I'm a little confused as to why the vet wants her on a low fat diet as opposed to a low protein diet, which is easier on the liver and the kidneys. (gives them both less work to do, lightens the load...)
