Has anyone heard of Milk Thistle? It's in the vitamin aisle at your local walmart or similar stores. Well when I went to pick up Elle at the vets yesterday, they suggested we tried that along with the Denosyl (liver pill). She said with the 2 together, it will make a a great liver treatment. |

Thought I'd post an update:: Elle seems to be doing good. She seems to be eatting more without my help. I leave her new dry dog food out for her to eat when she wants. and feed her a lil bit of the wet prescription I/D at breakfast and dinner, just to get her back on a schedule. But today I seen her go to the dry dog food all by herself. And yesterday, I had to give her an appetite pill to make her eat (suggested by the vet) and I didnt have to do that today. Her tummy doesnt look as tight as it used to, and she doesnt wimper as much when I pick her up. I'm hoping she is feeling better this time, and I wont have to take her back to the vet to be hospitalized anymore. |
I started reading through this thread last night. I am sorry you are going through this. I get stressed over a cold. It is so hard to watch our precious babies feel sick. And she defiantly is precious. :) Those pictures of her you posted say precious all over her face. So glad to see she is feeling better. I will say a pray that she keeps getting better and better. |
Kim, that is definitely a good sign that she is going to her food on her own. You've been such a great mommie to Elle and I'm sure she feels very loved and well-cared for. |
Check this out: Nutramax Laboratories, Inc. Basically, you can use Marin (milk thistle) with Denosyl.... Denamarin has it all... might be easier giving one pill a day... IDK |

I havent updated in awhile::: Elle hasnt had her labwork checked in awhile, as the vet wanted to wait 2-3 weeks to retest her liver enzymes. I'm hoping that all the food changes, medicine, and care she has recieved has made an impact in her recovery from whatever is going on with her. She is acting so well, that I get my hopes up for her being healed. She did throw up this morning, which started to scare me. But then I remembered the vet said she will have her good days vs some bad days. She hasn't had to be hospitalized for awhile, which is saving my sanity and checkbook. haha I will be soon heading off for vacation, and I wouldn't be going if she was not feeling well. But my inlaws have offered to keep her, so they can watch her for signs of sickness. I will update again, when I have some results from her lab work. Hopefully her enzyme levels will have gone done a significant amount. |

I just did a search on the internet... I feel so bad!!! I should have done some research before just giving her something. Even if the vet recommended it. I will be going to the vets office tommorrow for shots for the bulldog, and I will be definatelly having a discussion about this with them. Have I been poisoning my own baby??? I haven't updated in awhile... We redid Elle's labwork, and one of her liver enzymes went from 1,401 to 560. It's still high, since normal range is in the 100's, but things seem to be improving. I also voiced my concerns with the vet about how tight her stomach is. So she is keeping her on her gallbladder bile thinner and the liver meds for 1 more month. Then retest again.. She is acting alot better, but her appetite isnt always the best. |
