Sounds like Tibbe is doing much better, thank goodness:love: I would love to see that laugh on video:D

He's been doing a lot of it lately. That Hill's GI I/D kibble and/or the Fortiflora or both seemed to do it for him. He's been bouncing around, pestering me all yesterday & this morning to play, to walk, to go out & potty, play. He attacks his toys. He hides his chewies endlessly. He's watching out the windows & listening for anything he should know about going on outside. He's watching TV. I almost can't believe the turnaround. His bad month shook me so badly I can't relax yet & say he's back to 100% Tibbe until it's been a week of wellness but I'm believing we will get there. I think all those prayers here and good vets and me learning more about how I was feeding wrong are paying off.

Jeanie, I'm so glad to see that Tibbe is doing all of those things. It sounds like he's feeling great.:)

My Canon A1 Digital finally died a long & painful death so am looking for a camera that does the same quality vids. It's got to work in any light. I kind of hate to find one as poor Tibbe's life as he knows it will never be the same from that point on.

Tibbe Update: I think I can say my "old" Tibbe is back! He's feisty, pestering, bouncing all over like a ball, policing the neighborhood from his front & back windows, chasing all over the backyard running full out speed(haven't seen him do that for weeks) and full of himself. He's eating his Hill's GI I/D kibble soaked in warm water & occasionally dry, and at night with his dose of Fortiflora over it, and for the last 2 days, I've not given Pepcid AC. Normal stools, no spitting up, belching or burping followed by swallowing, licking, no reverse sneezing, no more sudden jumps from sleep followed by position changes. No hacking. He sleeps nights. His ears/tail stay up. He dog-laughs all the time like always. Out of fear, I don't want to jump the gun & proclaim he's well when it hasn't yet been a week since he had that dark/mucus-y stool followed by a gassy, bad day - but I think I'm beginning to think he is. After a month of worry & wondering what might happen & watching him go through some bad times, it is so, so good to see him acting like a healthy, happy little dog again. I really want to thank you all for your prayers & help & suggestions & support. Boy, is it appreciated. Thank you so much. Jeanie & Tibbe, too!

What kind of 'chewies' does he get? So glad he's doing better...:D

They are old. I can't even remember what they are called. He has a white flat rawhide rectangle that has occasionally been chewed on the edge for a few moments from time to time over his 4 years here & the same for a twisted rawhide chew stick - about the same age I guess. He might chew it some, too. What he really does with them is hide them, find them, carry them around in his mouth a lot.

Oh, boy, I am enjoying the moments. It is so good! Priceless.

Any possibility he swallowed a piece? Even a smallish piece can cause a problem if they get stuck going through their systems. Lots of twists and turns in the gut, they'll get stuck for a bit then move a bit and get stuck again. Also, once they're chewed on, they can harbor bacterias.

His symptoms match up to that happening. When the piece moves on, the dog can eat, but when it gets stuck in a turn, the dog may vomit on and off for a day or two until the piece moves on a bit further.... and on and on until it finally comes out or disolves completely, which can take days or weeks. Even a small piece will absorb any fluid in the surrounding intestines, a can swell to many times it's original size which again influences how quickly it can move (if at all) through his gut. If it absorbs too much fluid, it can dry out a potion of the intestine and adhere to the sides.

Then gas pockets form bc the food they do eat doesn't digest properly, and the dog will belch often, and they can become very uncomfortable, even painful till the gas is released.

I would toss them, if you don't remember where you got them or what brand they are, they may be made in China and be of the toxic kind.

He might have been able to chew enough off to swallow a piece but nothing is missing from the white rectangular one. It is positively pristine all along its edges. I just inspected it from stem to stern as he usually keeps it tucked between or behind one of the couch cushions. It's really kind of ivory in color & old. I just recalled he does have a thinner rawhide one that was a rawhide chewtoy that looked like a shoe & this piece is the sole or sides of that, leftover from when Tex, his American Bulldog friend got hold of it for a moment. He destroyed most of it in a heartbeat. Tibbe adores it ever since Tex did that to it. It has lace holes around the edges but I can't find it right now. When it turns up, and it will, I will look it over for missing bits. The chew stick itself is also hidden somewhere and it, too, will one day show up, though that one is usually hidden for long periods of time as I never find it on my own.

I see Tibbe mouthing on them from time to time & assumed he was chewing them but he hasn't any marks on the white one. Maybe it's the other 2 he seems to chews on. As soon as the other 2 show up, if they have anything missing from them, they are going in the trash. If they haven't actually been chewed, I'll likely let him continue to hide them & inspect them frequently, & stop him if he chews. He likes hiding them so much!

I'd be more concerned that since the chewies are old, they might be harboring bacteria, that would definitely make him sick! Probably best to toss them.

SO glad Tibbe is feeling better, he sure did have us all worried for a long time!

He's sick again today. Threw up water a while ago. Gave him nausea medication Cerenia & I fear he has a tumor or something. What else could be causing this? Just when I think he's back, he's ill again. Back to the vet tomorrow for a sonogram, I guess....sooner if he keeps throwing up. Had mucus in stool again this evening. Diet only Hill's I/D. Poor Tibbe. He's had an awful month. Poor baby.

I would pull all chews until he is better. ?the bacteria could easily set him off. It can take three weeks of a new food to see if it really will agree with a pup when dealing with intestinal issues.

As for it being a tumor, it is always possible with intestinal issues that it is lymphoma...BUT NOT PROBABLE. Actualy, cancer of any type in a young yorkie is very uncommon. From my experience, they are very prone to intestinal problems. Hopefully just IBD... Protein losing enteropathy would be something the vet may want to r/o.

Ellie has the diarrhea, vomiting, spit up issues along with pancreatitis, severe food allergies, and a liver issue. She is doing fine. It will get better.:)
