| Update-Miss Mia Eggshells-Please read Well just F.Y.I. While this is TMI I want people to know that eggshells can be dangerous. Miss Mia had a hard time this a.m. *passing* the eggshells (she ate the shells of 3 eggs last evening). Nothing catastrophic but definitely an issue, she passed eggshells with her morning poopies, they were of varying sizes she whined and cried and then ran from her own booty like it was chasing her. I took her to the vets (24 hr. emergency Vet) they decided it would be best to keep her there until we know for sure they have all passed, shes a healthy 6lbs. long tall and skinny, but still her butt hurts. They are taking an xray to be sure none are too large to pass. I will keep you updated.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That poor baby and OW! I hope she feels better soon. Ya know...reminded me that some PMR feeders (and some premade raw feeders) give their dogs a whole raw egg - shell and all. I wonder why some do okay w/ that shell, and others don't. I hope some PMR feeders see this thread...maybe they'd have some thoughts on it.

| When I homecooked for my girls, I used to save up our eggshells and freeze them. When I had enough, I'd bake them until dry and then grind them and put it in their food (per vet's recipe) along with the other supplements. So the shells aren't bad for them, just big pieces. I've seen YouTube vids of bigger dogs eating whole, raw eggs, but I don't know about giving them to small doggies. Hmmmm

| I did a whole long reply and Lost it.......i hate when that happens.... Anyways, she is ok so far, Vet says many pieces of varying size...thinks they will pass....staying there until they all do to make sure all is well....(my vet is the best!!) As for those that feed eggshells to their pets...geesh I hope you crush them up and really I don't understand why? My poor lil girl was trying to run from her own self poor thing, she literally wrapped her paws around my neck and was so scared. When I saw the pieces I knew it wasn't good they were just too big...lots of little ones too....shes such a piggy....
