When I homecooked for my girls, I used to save up our eggshells and freeze them. When I had enough, I'd bake them until dry and then grind them and put it in their food (per vet's recipe) along with the other supplements. So the shells aren't bad for them, just big pieces.
I've seen YouTube vids of bigger dogs eating whole, raw eggs, but I don't know about giving them to small doggies. Hmmmm
