With that very thing in mind, I JUST wrote, not 3 minutes ago, to lynzy, encouraging her not to worry, it is hard to swallow large pieces of egg shell so she probably chewed them up well....and now, I read this! You bring up a great question...I too wonder why some are not bothered and others are.... | |

| I am so glad you were observant and noticed Miss Mia ate the eggshells in the first place. Poor baby I hope she is able to pass the rest of them safely and with minimal pain. I had no idea about how dangerous egg shells are for our wee ones.

| Well I'm exhausted. Miss Mia is staying overnight with them, she still hasn't passed the rest Its better she stay there, she truly has them all wrapped around her paw I was going to visit her but Linda assured me that she is getting special treatment Its just as well because Momma is so upset that some of my friends/coworkers are being TERMINATED as their jobs are being eliminated...just awful...I know the economy is bad everywhere but this is awful and we are already shorthanded. They are trying to bust our Union for sure, but we are not going down without a fight, we've already sacrificied so much. Anyway, hopefully Miss Mia passes these shells so I can get her home, its hard for me to sleep when both my girls aren't home.

I keep playing that over in my head too. I saw the pieces tiny to nickel size (not round) but around that size, wondering HOW she swallowed them but I know why, she knew she was doing wrong and was scarfing them down before I got back in the kitchen...I heard her muching when I came in and got a small piece away from her...but then I looked in garbage and every single piece of eggshell was gone...it was a very small window of time. I know shes hyper, quick, lanky and clumsy but wth? But at the end of the day it is what it is, my pup ate eggshells, was having a problem pooping (it is a tiny lil butt) I decided not to take any chances..better safe than sorry...I'd rather she was there in case anything happened....I have to re examine my house and be more careful from now on with everything...I still can't believe this happened. talk about embarassing....and my name should be Lynduhhhhhhh(no offense to the real normal Linda's!!!)

| OMG just seeing this now! Who would have known that egg shells are tasty! Glad she's pooping them out, but man that's gotta hurt her, poor girl! How did she get a hold of them? Raided the trash? As far as the raw feeders, I think they grind up the shells into a powder, so I guess they wouldn't have this problem.

| Just saw this thread & OUCH is all I can say! That sounds painful as heck. I have heard of big dogs eating raw eggs in the shells & I guess I always thought their digestive enzymes dissolved the shells or owners would feed them that. But guess not. Bet there were some sharp edges that were NOT pleasant. That poor little girl. I'm sure glad she's gotten through all that & is home with her Mommie who needs her very much. Is she gun shy about pooping now?
