I hope she comes on & updates soon & I am Praying this pup will be OK. I also think that puppies should only be getting core vacs untill they are a bit older & stronger, then they can do Bordatella & Lepto etc.... if needed. Last edited by lillymae; 05-14-2012 at 08:28 AM. | |

| GME usually shows up in middle aged pups. It can show up at six months but I think it is highly unlikely that this puppy has it at 13 weeks. I also don't know that there is any research that links GME and vaccines. There are people who suspect it, but to my knowledge there is no real link. If there is something new, I would love to know about it. As for a vet school....A&M is the closest and that is a distance from Dallas. I would suggest looking for a board certified internest.....you can find one at: www.acvim.org OP as the others have suggested, you really need to get your pup seen asap....she is very young and these puppies can go downhill quickly.

| Did the vet explain why a lowered iron is not a concern? I could be wrong, but I would think that could lead to anemia. Perhaps a supplement might help? I think it would be worth asking about.

| I am keeping your little one in my prayers. I hope you were able to get her in to see another vet like the others have said. Please keep us updated as you can on how she is doing.

| I'm sorry...I didn't make the connection that this started right after her vaccination.... even one vaccine can knock a puppy out for up to a week to 14 days. You should start seeing her doing better soon... I would call the vet (or look on your receipt) to see exactly what vaccine she got... even if it's all capital letters please post it here...we may be able to tell you what is most likely affecting her. Others: the OP posted here too: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...ty-change.html

| MY ZOE IS BACK!!!! Thank you for all the prayers and advice! After spending half the night on the internet and getting a few hours of sleep, I woke up and Zoe seemed a little happier. She went to my mom's as she normally does, and I received a text from my mom she was acting 100% better! Playing, running around chasing after the other dogs and just acting like a pup again. Her limp is gone as well. Her is a list of her shot record 7 Weeks 3/26/12 Distemper Hepatitis Parainfluenza Parvovirus Leptospirosis 12 Weeks 4/30/12 Canine Bordetella Distemper/Parvo DAPP Started showing symptoms on 5/8/12 would she have been fine for a week and then have a reaction to the vaccines? Yes, she is on Hi-Vite drops for the low iron. I started the Lactlulose on Friday and am still concerned it could be a liver shunt. I am still going to do the test and see if she is positive for one followed with a sonogram depending on the results. She does have a health contract with the breeder for a shunt, but I will NEVER give her back. I will give up my cable, food and whatever else needed to keep her. I will let the breeder know and give her all her records in hopes she makes the right decision with the information. Again, Thank you so much! I will keep posting on how she is doing and look forward to getting know y'all in Yorkie Talk! |

| If the Bordatella was intranasal, a little may have gone to her lungs. That can take a bit to show up, and may have cleared on it's own. Many dogs are having problems with it... it comes as an injection too, and I've heard better results with it. To be safer, the Bordatella and the Lepto (if repeated) both need to be given on separate visits, a month apart from any other vaccines. Usually DAPP is fine as it's all one (without the Lepto is preferable) although a few dogs have had problems with it too. Was the limp in the area of where a vaccine was given?

My furkids Donating Member | this happened to my little Lillie after her lyme shot....although she wasn't eating either...called my vet and he told me to go in right away...said she as having a reaction to the shot...he gave her a shot to counteract the lyme shot and had us stay in the exam room until he saw some improvement...took over 30 mins,.he gave her a little soft food and she ate it...no more lyme shots for my pups!
