Default Muffin has vomited 3 days now in a row

A couple of days ago, Muffin left some yellow stains of the rug that looked like bile, but she is eating very well and is very playful. I thought it would resolve itself, but yesterday she through up quite a bit of food, I think, I don't think it is poo. Tonight, yet again, I found a great deal of "stuff" on my bed where she sometimes stays and on the floor too. The house has been very very stressed with Cassie very ill, and I've been spending time with her night and day, so Muffin might be feeling a little left out. But I am getting very worried now. What could this be? They are both inside dogs and are hardly every outside. Cassie has severe congestion, upper respiratory, and sometimes gasps for breath. It doesn't seem to be resolving itself. I've already given her IV antibiotics in the hospital and two antibiotics at home, to no avail. I am giving her homeopathic meds, which seems to calm her down, but has not yet alleviated the congestion. But I digress, because I am about to lose my mind with both of them sick at the same time? Any suggestions? I am beside myself. Shellie

To me the throwing up sounds like it could be gastrointlis (i know that is spelled all wrong haha!) I say that because Ralph had it, I would take muffin to the vet and have them find out what it is, if it is what Ralph has they put them on a plain diet of chicken and rice with no seasoning, just plain and some medicine that will prevent your baby from throwing up and settle there tummy. Ralph got it because of eating human food, so after the treatment he has had just dog food and dog treats that settle things for his tummy. Again I could be wrong. So i would go to your vet to be safe (:

If Ranger throws up once 3 days in a row, I don't consider that cause for alarm. Just a change in diet will do that. He also tends to play too hard and then lap down water so fast he makes himself throw up. If he is continually throwing up for 2 days in a row, then I get worried.

I bet it is stress. Maybe give smaller amounts more often, and a little more attention if possible. Hopefully you have someone else in the home so both can get the attention they need.

Love Muffin update

Hello all,

Well Muffin did not throw up today at all. And I even took her to the groomers and helped with everything so she wouldn't be so stressed. Well Cassie and Muff got groomed today because they were so knotted and tangled and dirty, it was unhealthy, and I knew something had to be done. I was holding off on the grooming until they got well, because my vet told me not to stress them out, but Cassie had been sick too long already, and I had to make a choice because it seemed to me they were really in an unhealthy situation, and I felt they would feel 100% better once their hair was cut and untangled and clean. I was right and they are feeling much better. I fed the Muff girl by hand, one little bit at a time off the tip of my finger. She ate well and there have been no vomiting incidents that I know of. I gave her lots of love and kisses and hugs and I am hoping there will be no more incidents. My Vet also said she thought it was gastroenteritis. So I am hoping for the best, and thank you all for your input, you helped me ALOT. I'm so grateful for you're being there. I'll keep you posted if there is any more news, but I hope we're through here. Thanks a bunch for your love and concern. It really really does make a difference.

Love Shellie, Muffin and Cassie

Hello all again,
I'm sorry to say I think I spoke too soon today. Today she projectile vomited just clear liquids-she hadn't eaten yet. After-I tried a little food, and she is refusing all food. I hear her stomach making noises. Muffin NEVER refuses food. NEVER! I AM WORRIED. She is very restless in my arms-seems very very uncomfortable. Help. What could it be? Still gastroenteritis?
Please help!!!!!

I would get her immediately to a vet with projectile vomiting and her history of repeated vomiting. There could be something bad going on and you need to know, besides which nausea is so very uncomfortable and she probably needs an antiemetic to just help her feel better & stop vomiting & to replace the electrolytes she has been losing. You need to find out from a vet what is causing this as it is getting worse. Good luck & keep us posted.

I would definitely get your little one to the vet. There could be a bunch of things going on that may need meds - infection, bowel obstruction (w the constipation and vomiting), etc. I would definitely go.

Default Muffin update!

She ate very enthusiastically a little while ago, seems cheery, and has not vomited-at least that I know of-so far. Spoke to my vet and she is prescribing several tinctures and sending them to me. Will keep you all posted.

Love, Shellii Muffy and Cassie

She spoke to the vet and he was sending her medications. OP, if your little one does not quit vomiting immediately ~ I would get her into the vet's office.

Dehydration is a concern with all the repeat vomiting.

I guess a question would be, did all that food she just ate in the last post come out the other end? If so, then I would think there is no obstruction at least....Projectile vomiting does not sound good though. I have only seen Maggie sort of stop, lean over and out comes whatever...nowhere near projectile. That is why I'd go to the vet. Curious though, what condition he is sending "tinctures" for. (assume that's medicine!) He is aware of the projectile though?....does he have a theory?

Smile Muffin update!

Hi all,
Muffin has not vomited at all for the last couple of days. She is pooping fine and is in high spirits. Eats well so far and everything seems normal. Still, my Vet sent me meds to give to her, but I am not sure that I will do that at this time, as Muffin seems perfectly fine. I will check with her and ask her if I can wait on the Meds or she still wants me to give them to her. What I have done is feed Muffin by hand so she does not wolf her food down, and I am giving her lots and lots of loving and kisses and hugs. She seems to be much better. I was so very worried about Cassie, that I was ignoring Muffin, and she is very very attached to me. I am entertaining the idea that she was very upset about what was going on in the house and got very emotional about it. She is a very emotional little girl, so it is possible. We'll see.

Thanks for all your concern. And no- I did not actually go to the Vet, as I am quite ill myself, and my 89 YO father who has dementia does not drive, nor would I want him too. My Vet is an hour away, and I go to her because she is the best, and is a wholistic and also traditional veterinarian and saved Muffins life more than once. But she does do in-depth consults over the phone. and I have never had a problem with that. IF she thinks it's life threatening she directs me to or I usually on my own take Muffin to the ER. Also, I might have been mistaken about he projectile thing. I'm not so sure about it, as I was holding Muffin in my arms when all this clear liquid came out, and I may have been mistaken about thinking it was "projectile". Actually my really sick one is Cassie, her cold has lasted for four months, and she continues to be congested on a regular basis. She is eating okay, but I am very worried as she is only two pounds.
I gave her antibiotics, and wholistic meds and nothing seems to help. I have been to my Vet and the ER countless times with her, to no avail. Another call to my Vet is in order because we are just not making any progress here. So far, the ER states there is no pneumonia, but it is worrisome. Thank you all for all your love and concern.

Sounds like you have your hands full! Oh my. I'm glad Muffin is feeling a little better. Hopefully poor Cassie will feel better soon.
