Your little puppy may be in a great deal of pain. How can she tell you? Whimpering is one way. Doing nothing is another.

I have said it before and will always believe that if people can't afford medical care (or at least enough care to keep their animals free from pain) -- they should not have pets.

Please, for sure, keep us posted. And, again I hope she recovers on her own.

PS: I re-read some of the posts and think you said that she is going to the bathroom. That is a very good sign. But still - keep a close eye on her and please keep us up to date.

SnowWa...wow - you are condeming us for offering advise to her ? No one said don't go to the vet - at the very least, most people said DO call the vet - this is a young person we're talking to... and saying some people shouldn't have pets is pretty drastic for this thread - I actually was a little offended, and I'm not the original poster -

I'm not trying to start anything but we all are trying to help by sharing things we would try ourselves... and in no way does it substitute for Vet care - but we also don't race to the vet for every little poop that doesn't look right -

At least I don't anymore....

I did when I first got Chanel and believe me - almost every visit...she was just fine.

Great news...there has not been any advise given in this thread that could cause a minute of distress to this sick Yorkie.

PLEASE never give raw hides again..they can cause bowel upsets in many dogs..especially as they get into the 5 plus years. HAM is not good either..
If it happend again, let her guts rest for 24 hrs since she is not tiny. Give her ice cubes and if she isn't licking them..spoon honey water in her mouth.

I lived in England, back in the days when a vet was a luxury, so you learn to care for your animals as best as you can....and these people can not afford a vet...it is a fact of life some people can not afford them. Should they own a dog, certainly, it is a free country and if people can have babies and not be able to afford them, so can dog lovers. I would hate for someone to tell me I could not have a dog if I was short on vet funds.
Beleive it or not, dogs can do well without alot of vet care..much can be gotten free or reduced fees at Humane Societies.

If this happens again, call a few Yorkie show breeders and ask them for advise..some have even taken up collections for Yorkie owners in need...never hurts to ask.

I apologize for overreacting.....

I lost three of my pets this last year. Two of them had very serious health problems, one that was noticed when I took my dog to the vet for another reason.

So - it scares me to "stay at home" with what seems to be a very sick dog.

And - no way do I take my dog to the vet for every bump and bruise. They go if they are sick or in pain --- or, of course, have an obvious injury.

Actually -- I don't think my dogs or cats ever got sick unless it was something very serious. And that certainly wasn't very often --- one dog never, and the other two only once or twice in 12 to 14 years.

Teka1 --- There is no one happier than I am that your little dog is better.
And - thank you for keeping us all up to date.
