My poor teaka:( PLEASE HELP I have a six year old yorkie named Teaka. She is really sick :( A few days ago.. we gave her a bone (a rawhide kind of thing) it had a picture of a yorkie on the front of the package and had natural ingredients supposedly. My dad decided to buy them and give it to teaka. She chewed it for about an hour each day (maybe not even that) but we always made sure we took it away after awhile because we knew she could get sick. Today she is throwing up bright yellow stuff and pooping in the house. She wants to be helped all the time and does not want to be alone. SHe seems tired ( probably because she didn't sleep all night) We have to give her water with a baby medicine thing. She won't eat or drink anything by herself. We have to almost force her to drink and she won't even look at food. My parents don't want to take her to the vet because of the bills and we don't want teaka to be put down or harmed :( please please help!!!!! i am so scared. I dont know what to do!\ Please post or email! thanks catherine |
What all have you tried to feed her??? Sounds like she needs a visit to the doctor if at all possible. Try boiling some chicken and white rice and cutting it up really fine and feeding her that, or boiling some hamburger and white rice and mix it together. How much does she weigh??? |
Wish I could help. I am sorry and hope the best for Teaka. Has she had these before? In my prayers, and hope she gets well. MuffinsMom |
Not sure how much she ways. He tried feeding her roast beef soaked in water and ham soaked in water. Won\'t eat anything. |
She really needs to go to a vet there might be a blockage and thats why she is having these problems. |
could the rawhides have anything to do with this? She had this before about a year ago. But we weren\'t too sure why. |
Those might be too salty and if she isn\'t getting much water that could dehydrate her even more. Is she a bigger or a smaller yorkie??? When mine are sick my vet tells me to take them off of food and water for 24 hours and then slowly in small amounts at a time give the boiled chicken or hamburger and white rice mixture. I hesitate to advise you to do that if your baby is really small and has been in this shape for a while and hasn\'t been eating or drinking anyway!! How long has it been since she ate any food?? |
Sounds like she needs to go to the vet. Yorkies have very sensitive digestive systems and if they are fed foods high in fat, it can cause pancreatitis. Zeus has dealt with this after being fed peanut butter treats. We were lucky that we caught it right away and took him to the vet. Some dogs are not so lucky and can end up in ICU and suffer permanent damage. |
Sometimes those rawhides make my Bentley sick too...he has a sensitive stomach.. |
I would get her to a vet or at least call them and see what they tell you. In the meantime feed her the rice and chicken to see if that helps.. Keep us posted... |
It has been about 12 hours since she ate anything. She was perfect yesterday. My mom just forced her to drink 2 tblsp of water, so she at least has some water. She is a pretty small yorkie. |
When Zeus was going through this, the vet said to have him fast for 24 hrs to let his tummy settle. This might not be a bad idea. I would try and call the vet as soon as you can to see what they say. |
I just responded to your PM. Do you think your baby is under 4 pounds??? If you absolutely cannot take her to the vet I would try the fasting from food and water for 24 hours and then the boiled chicken and rice in small amounts. I don\'t see how that could hurt if you can\'t take her to the vet anyway. That is probably what they\'ll tell you. Does she act like she has anything stuck in her throat...coughing??? |
From my experience ham is not good for dogs. I would do as the others have advised and call the vet and try chicken or hamburger with rice. |
no coughing. Just throwing up and pooping |
