| ![]() I am not sure if you have read my old posts about my yorkie. She had neurological problem. Fatal brain disease. She is not with me anymore. I read a lot about that disease. It is horrible and signs can be so different, including what you wrote. As a yorkie owner, who went through a lot of doctors, many tests, wrong diagnosis in the beginning, I would highly recommend you to go to your local NEUROLOGIST. IMMEDIATELY.URGENT. NO WAITING even one day. Don't spend your money and time on regular vet. TRUST ME. It might more expensive, especially if you do MRI. Hope, your baby doesn't have same, but unfortunately statistically, more and more yorkies diagnosed with it (NLE/NME). Dog without treatment can die even in a few days. Reasons: Backyard breeding, inbreeding/genetic/month infection/sometimes result of shuts.... Wish you good luck. |

| ![]() If you are from NJ, I don't know how far it is from Boston. There is one of the best neurologist, who specialises at that GME disease. His name is Alan Sisson, just google him. He is not cheap, only consultation is appx. $200, but he is highly recommended. Also, usually adult dogs get affected by NME/NLE/GME Last edited by omichka; 06-17-2011 at 04:52 PM. |

| ![]() So glad it was not too serious. My Benjamin Bean did the same thing with his LP before surgery as his knee would pop out & lock up & it did cause him some serious pain, he would fall over & scream & cry & refuse to walk. |

| ![]() My Lucy has LP in both knees - but we keep her weight in check; give her some joint supplements and try to prevent her jumping TOO much. (It's hard to completely stop it because she is very active). She had a couple of episodes where she would just sink to the ground during or after a walk. The ER vet diagnosed her with LP but my regular vet said LP should not cause her to sink to the ground and not be able to move. He did more testing to rule out other issues. Of course, we already knew about her liver issues so all that was factored in. These episodes only happened two times, and that was last year; but it WAS scary. If your pup is having continuing problems and has to scoot across the floor; I would not stop at where you are now because that does sound very serious. I would agree that a specialist opinion is in order if your dog is not back to regular walking. Best of luck.
