| ![]() I know, it drives you nuts trying to get help when they are ill, and it sometimes seems like they're just guessing. Gidget's x-rays were all clear too for trachea, lung fields, heart size. The Tussagon is finally stopping her cough. We have had three cough free days (knock on wood)! I've been feeding her wetted down Royal Canine #27 (this is what her breeder sent w her). I had to laugh, we are also giving room temp distilled water! Her activities have also been limited (no walks, rough play, etc.). Glad to hear about Wiley's weight gain. I think that speaks volumes of how well cared for he is and how happy he is! Have you seen any difference since he got the Hydroxine for allergies? We will keep praying for little Wiley and his mom. I think you have done an absolutely wonderful job w nursing him back! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() His Doctor gave a little chuckle when he brung up Wiley's xray on the computer because it was so tiny because Wiley is such a little guy. I sure love Wiley's vet.... he is the most loving & caring vet to animals I have ever met!!! |

| ![]() I don't know about the sinus thing but I would try not to bath him too much at this point. Too much bathing right now could dry out his skin and cause shedding. He has been on a lot of meds for a little guy and that is harsh on his system and will effect the coat some. Just rinse off his feet or butt if he gets them dirty and keep him warm of course. This little guy must be quite a fighter to get go through all that he has had to endure. I hope the sinus thing clears up soon. |

| ![]() You say you give him chicken and is there chicken in his food ? as lots of dogs are allergic to chicken. Also , and I know it may be hard to find out but did the breeder give him a bordatella vaccination through the nose ? as it can cause all of the symptoms that you describe if they have a reaction to it. Some dogs are fine with it but some have a reaction to it & it damages their sinus tissue & if this happens there in no cure for it , only treatment. |

| ![]() Also mine developed an antibiotic resistant infection so my vet did a nasal swab & sent to the lab. It turned out to be resistant to most antibiotics except Baytril. After a round of the Baytril his coughing went away but it took 3 or 4 months for his coat to start looking good again. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Wiley is doing wonderful, gaining weight & muscle mass, and eating like a piggy. He is 2# 2.2oz this morning. I went out and bought Acana Grasslands Grain free for him and he LOVES it. I wanted to try something without chicken to see if this helped his cough. I started him on Acana Wild Prairie Grain free which has chicken. He has eaten the Grasslands for two days now and I have noticed that he has not been coughing much at all. I also stopped all meds which has been two days now as the meds are only to be given as needed. He was on Metoclopramide for regurgitation as needed Hydroxyzine for allergies I also rubbed his body with organic virgin coconut oil trying to use small amounts everywhere but his pads and face. He wanted to lick my fingers the whole time... which is good for him anyway. He enjoyed the rub down of coconut and fell asleep while I was applying it. He looks greesy, but he isn't as dry and hasn't been itching much and his coat is easier to comb. He has the cotton type hair I think. Gets matted easy. I have to comb it daily. My fingers are crossed hoping that he will continue to keep that cough away with the new flavor of Acana and maybe he won't need his AS NEEDED meds. It has been rainy here the past two days. I wonder if that is helping his cough??? |

| ![]() I am beginning to think that some of the foods just have too much grain in them. Hopefully grain free food will be a big help to him. Regular chicken is pumped full of various drugs and they are fed an unhealthy diet. The chickens that are grass fed are naturally fed and are not kept in the little cages and subjected to all the garbage our chicken is. Maybe that will make a difference for your little guy. Eating food that is as God intended will help build his bodies defenses. Glad to hear he is past the 2# mark. The oil on his skin must have been a relief to him. |

| ![]() Wiley is such a lucky boy to have such a loving mom. The one good thing that comes out of a rough start like this is that I feel you will have a stronger bond with Wiley because of all the extra nursing you are giving to him. Hey anyone would love to have a coconut oil rub down! Congratulations on the weight gain and that his coughing is decreasing. He really is the sweetest boy. It makes me so happy to see him improving. Best wishes to Wiley and his wonderful mom!
