| I am so sorry to hear about Polo's case I hope he gets better and i know EXACTLY how you feel.. my baby is hospitalized with parvo at the moment.. it is extremely expensive and if it wasnt for my boyfriend and his family i think i would have lost her. i know what you mean when you say that you feel like you are in a dream and you hope each day to wake up from it. My prayers go out to Polo so he can get better and to you so that you do not loose hope. I know these times are hard but we have to be strong for our little ones. God Bless, Kailee & Mommy

| Update: Sorry this update took so long have been very busy with Polo now home I picked Polo up from the Neurologist Wensday and he seemed to notice me he was squealing like he wanted me to hold him. They said that his rolling and flipping has gotten better the main reason I keep him there was because of the constant rolling. The Neurologist did not seem very hopeful of Polo. I knew she wanted to do the MRI but she was almost it seemed giving up on him. I am a believer in Christ and I know Miracles can happen with prayer. We went to a Holistic vet on wensday because I have heard really good things about the Holistic vet. Well it was very interesting going there but they told me Polo is allergic to chicken and herring fish, which is in Orijen and Acana what he eats. And also for a month or so he has been eating chicken they said no More Chicken or Orijen or Acanaso they told me to try Ziwi peak Lamb it was $25 for a 2.2lb bag but he really likes it. Anyways they gave him a ton of natural medicine and he has been doing really. Well yesterday I went to get the Mail and left him in his bed on top of the bed upstairs well I came back and he was on the floor walking around still kind of unbalanced. But he had to have jumped off of the bed I was amazed almost in tears. He has been getting better everyday it seems. Today the doorbell rang and he was in his kennel well he got out of his kennel and growled once and went to the door fell over a couple of times but he seems very aware of what is going on around him. Also not very long ago today I took him outside to go potty with out a leash, he walked from my backyard all the way to the neighbors front yard with out falling. When he got there he was tired you could tell he just laid in the front yard but wow again I was amazed. Is he 100% better no he still falls and sometimes will start rolling and can't stop himself but too see this improvement in a couple of days is really amazing

| I am sorry, but I am simply flabbergasted at this. I will pray for Polo. I don't know how you got the idea that a holistic vet would be the answer here; and I really don't understand how a holistic vet would discount the fact that the neurologist apparently saw some clear cut neurological signs. Food allergies do not cause neurological signs like that.

| Oh, and please don't leave him unattended on your bed again. Next he will have fractured legs. You were fortunate...or shall I say HE was fortunate this time. I am now unsubscribing from this thread. MUCH too depressing to watch what comes next.

| Did your vet put Polo on meds, and are you giving them to him at home ? If this baby has GME you cannot stop treatment or it will kill him. I don't have a problem treating with natural supplements as I use them often with my babies but GME is nothing to mess around with and needs to be monitored by your vet regularly. It's ok to use supplements & herbs as long as they are safe to use with the meds that your vet prescribes & some don't mix so Please be very careful and keep him under your vets care while you try other things to boost his immune system. Praying for Polo. |

Sad just plain sad, no clue, though everyone tried to give her help in the right direction. This is why I rarely post!

It is possible that your neurologoist's reaction was predicated upon the fact, that without a correct and best informed diagnosis, the prognosis/outcome for your pup is not good, and may even include death. I believe that someone here mentioned Care Credit, how is that coming along? In terms of short term improvement, there is simply no reason at this point to assume it is due to the holistic herbs, and change of diet. Being back at home most pups will perk up for a bit. If you have not investigated the GME group and or Care Credit, I urge you to do so. Those neuro signs are very worrisome, and it is best to get the most informed diagnosis, so that the treatment plans can proceed ahead with the best chance of success. In the meantime you will need to be extra cautious in safeguarding your pup from falls, Close off stairs, no beds or couches off the floor unless you are with him. In fact an Xpen would be a good idea, if you can't monitor him 24/7

| I have a little male that has SEVERE food allergies. We have been to Texas A&M and we have done an extensive food elimination diet to isolate what his allergies may be that were causing the allergies. I'm certainly no vet, but it has been explained to me that normal food allergies cause GI upsets, vomiting and severe, bloody diarrhea - not severe neurological imbalances such as these. I also have a little female that has had a liver shunt that we had to have repaired - Polo's problems just do not really sound like food allergies to me. Please, please find a way to have this baby's problem properly diagnosed so that you can get to the bottom of the problem and he does not have to suffer. If it is not the diet, it will only progressively get worse and little Polo will be the one that suffers the most. We are sending Yorkie hugs and prayers your way.... |
