Help Polo Can't stand

I am sorry to say this, but it seems that the OP is not going to listen to anyone. To me this is the ultimate in selfishness...and the nerve she has to get on YT and suggest that only a few people care about Polo??

Sorry, but this IS about Polo and all of those who suggested the right care for him do care. The OP wants us to care more about her feelings and pat her on the back for doing what is clearly going to be his demise.:

Yes, OP, many of us are praying for Polo. I am also praying for you...that you will wake up and do what is best for him. I have seen the end results of stories like this...very depressing. Poor pups who have no voice and people doing what makes THEM feel better.

totally agree. This pup needs to be surrendered to rescue so it can get the help he so badly needs. the OP is obviously not doing what's best for him. If my dog was suffering and I could not afford to care for her, I would find someone who could. Sacrifice my baby so she can live, instead of suffer and slowly die. How one can watch their own suffer like that I'll never understand.

Little Polo is still in as serious trouble as ever and OP is just going to do nothing but double dose with steroids and wait for the inevitable. OP has gotten good advice, real understanding, heartfelt pleas to get advanced vet care and lots of attention - but Polo hasn't benefited from any of it.

I cannot read one more sentence by OP about this helpless, fragile little baby falling off beds, repeatedly going down, trying his very best to eat and poop and struggle by the moment to live his little life the best he can while suffering a desperate illness with no hope. God bless you Polo.

I feel the same way.

I've been following this thread, hoping that the OP would realize how serious this is for Polo but she's blocked her mind to the truth of it. Polo has been a tough little boy, and I pray that God eases his suffering.

I am so sorry that you ever got the impression that people did not care about Polo...that is why people are so passionate in their reponses - because they do really care. Although Polo may seem as though he is doing better and I'm certainly sure you are hoping so, It has been over 2 weeks since your first post and you are still talking about things that sound like neurological disorders. The steroids will certainly help, but would it not be the prudent thing to do to find the real cause of the problem by getting the MRI or whatever diagnostic tests are necessary to get to the bottom of this baby's problem. Obviously it was not a food allergy or the change in diet would have solved the problems by now. I am not questioning your love for Polo, I am sure you love him as much as we all love our little ones...but there is only so far that love and prayers can go in taking care of these little ones and then we have to let modern medicine take it's role. When and if that has been exhausted, then maybe all that is left is love and prayer, but until then, give Polo the chance he deserves in getting well. I can tell by your posts how much you love him...show him by taking him back to the neurologist and getting him the care that he needs and deserves. If you are unable, please allow an organization that can. Thinking of you and little Polo....

My prayers too are offered up to Polo, to live in no pain, that somehow and someway his suffering will be eased. I'll hold him in the light.

A couple of days ago he was outside with me on a leash and he saw a squirrel and tried to go after it that is his normal self he just loves to try to chase the squirrels.

The other night I asked him to sit before his food and he did he has not sat in a while because of his balance, he still falls but it seems like he can catch himself before he falls which I think is a good sign. He even is sleeping well in the night before when he was really bad he would wake up in the middle of the night and start panting and shaking and he would do it at least two times in the night. He has stopped the panting and shaking he seems very relaxed when he is sleeping looks so peaceful. He is sleeping a a circle before he would have to have to be in a bed with his head elevated or else he would roll or fall. He is responding if I ask him if he is hungry he is eating more I guess because of the steroids he is getting a little pot belly.

you have seriously misunderstood everyone's intentions here. We care very much for Polo's health and well-being. We have given you a lot of good advice but it's fallen on deaf ears. I've even talked to you in PMs a few times but i fear that too has gone unheard. The people here on YT are very passionate about yorkies, and all animals, and we do not like to see them suffer needlessly. People come on here all the time to ask for advice and prayers. The best we can do is look at the situation from an outside perspective and give advice as to what we would do in that situation. Since we do not know you personally it is easier to give our honest word which sometimes comes out rather blunt and harsh. It is not our intention to be "mean" or "bullies". We do not go out of our way to hurt Your feelings. When a pup is in trouble we give advice (our opinion) that best suits the DOGs needs, not the humans. The dog cannot do anything for itself and relies on you to make the right decision for it. If the owner does not make the right decision then who will?

With that being said, I have a few questions about how Polo is doing. Who decided to double the dosage of steroids? the holistic vet or the neurologist? and which steroid did you double? the prednisone or the cortalone?

Is he still taking all that other "stuff" from the holistic vet?

What are you feeding him now? Does he have access to as much water as he wants 24/7? The steroids will make him drink and eat more. The water he definitely needs as much as he wants, but the food you need to regulate. Just because he seems hungry doesn't mean he needs to eat more. Give him the amount of food he would normally get when he wasn't on the steroids. The steroids alone will make him gain weight, so he doesn't need the extra food and cookies to help it along.

Again, do not let him over exert himself. Keep the walking to a minimum and no running. No furniture, stairs, beds, or anything he can jump on or off of, especially since you still do not know exactly what is wrong with him.

Shaking and panting can be a side effect of the steroid or it can be because he is in pain.

Please find out what is actually wrong with Polo. You may be doing more harm then good with the drugs you are giving him since you do not have an accurate diagnosis, and you are not listening to the neurologist (at least you weren't the last time we spoke).

My heart actually hurts for Polo and what he's had to suffer because of her refusal to get him the help needed. And for Bella - knowing what type of life she's in for if she ever gets sick.
