| Received Upsetting News from Vet Sammy went to the vet for his physical. She said he looked good for his age and his health concerns. The vet called two days later with his blood results and he is having renal failure. His BUN is 136, creatanine (spelling?) is 2.6 and he has bacteria in the urine so he is on an antibiotic called Orbax. There is no protein, or sugar or blood in the urine. She also put him on vitamins (she said B vitamins are good for this), Omega fatty 3, and changed his food to k/d (which he likes). She said he looks so good compared to his results and asked is he eating and is he vomiting. He is eating very well and no vomiting. She also said to keep Pepcid on hand if he should need it - 1/4 tab once a day. She will do a follow up urine test in 2 weeks and go from there. I am so upset and have been crying since Friday. My little baby Sammy looks so good, I can't believe this is happenning. He is a tough little boy. I just love him so much, I'm crying just writing this. My baby will be 13 in June (my little teenager!!!). Please keep my Sammy in your prayers. Thank you so much. |

| You should contact Lorraine and ask her about our Clemmie's experince...tests showed kidney failure...but no one told Clemmie...she never had any symtoms, and has lived 3 more years since it happended and still well....Lorraine did nothing...totally weird..I think Yorkies are prone to failing tests... |

| Praying for you and Sammy, I know how you feel I lost my 2 cairn terriers at the age of 14 and they both seemed very healthy. I was blessed to have them that long. I now have 4 yorkies.

| I am sorry to hear your news. I'm not familiar with all the test results, but with all the wonderful members on her that know so much I am sure you will have some good advice right away. Until then hug your baby alot and let him know you are there for him ALWAYS. Here's a big hug for you, too! |

| How old is your yorkie? and what was he eating before the test? If he seems fine and has no symptoms, I might get a second opinion from either another vet or a renal specialist.

| I am so sorry -- I know how frightening this is. I will pray that the blood results are just an anomaly and the next set will be much better. Hang in there and enjoy your sweet Sammy!
