| ![]() I'm sorry to hear the news. I believe (not sure on this 100% though) that BUN can change significantly with diet though so you may see some improvement with the K/D. LadyJane kept her little Cody alive for many years despite Renal failure. Many dogs can live with it and have a good quality of life. Some need fluid therapy and it sounds like your little guy just needs a diet change right now. Also, my Barney had an elevated creatinine and two weeks later it was normal and we linked it back to him eating spinach!

| ![]() Definitely, as 107barney said, diet is extremely important in pups with renal failure. I have actually had two with it who both lived for a long time with good dietary management. My Cody was diagnosed when I got him at the age of 8 and he lived to be almost 13. Sassy lived much longer with it but I don't recall exactly how many years she had it. If your vet has not changed the diet yet, I strongly advise asking him/her about it.

I will say a prayer for him...I think that you will most likely see his numbers drop if you stick with that diet! Keep us posted. ![]()

| ![]() Prayers for you and Sammy. I know the ups and downs of dealing with an elder dog - our Boxer turns 15 in early May and she surprises us every day with her stamina, appetite and overall good health (considering she has a heart condition and has outlived boxer's general life expectancy by several years). I would almost bet that with the change in diet you will see significant changes with his next bloodwork. And something else to think about -- sometimes bloodwork is not done right and ##'s are wrong. |

| ![]() Sending prayers for Sammy and you. I know what you are going through. My Brody had advanced renal failure, had him on kd food and sub-q fluids twice a day. Sammy not vomiting everyday is a very good sign, and the levels can change for the better. Stay strong, and keep us posted!

| ![]() I hope there was something wrong with the test and it was a mistake. I hope you have precious Sammy for a very long time. He might surprise you and outlive the vet's expectations! ![]()

| ![]() Im so sorry for your news, is it possible that it could be something else since he is so healthy in every other aspect. I would think that you would notice significant changes in him if he were that sick with renal failure (but Im not a vet) Sending prayers
