Sweet Peyton hurt his leg (all my fault, I am so ashamed!)

Okay, so he is in the crate now. He woke up from his nap with a bit too much energy. I have the crate on the couch right next to me. He is not sure what is going on. He is trying to chew his way through it!

However, Sophia thinks this is wonderful. She is practically smiling! Lol! She went to the crate and sniffed him through it...I felt like she was thinking "This is a great idea Mommy! Why didn't you think of this sooner! Is today my Birthday?"

It demonstrates what a great and devoted mom you are, and we all should strive to always do the very best that we possibly can for our babies. You spoke so highly of Purdue, and I'm so glad that you were able to take little Peyton home today. Still, if you need help with all of these feelings that were stirred up, there are so many of us that truly care.

Bitsy! Happy news! Keep that little guy in the crate and get him healed. Very good news to hopefully get it healed without surgery. That's so funny about Sophia!

There are SO any scenarios for fractures. Each case is going to be completely different from the next. I was most stressed when I felt the decision on how to treat was up to me. What if I choose wrong? So many bad things could happen.

When I made the decision to go to Purdue and get an expert orthopedic surgeons opinion I felt much better. They are trained to diagnose and treat. I am not.

I am VERY hopeful that Peyton will heal well this week. But if something changes or he doesn't heal the way expected I will trust the surgeons opinion again.

In case anyone was wondering...the fee for the exam with the surgeon was
only $88. A very small price to pay to get an expert opinion.

I went there expecting to have to leave him to get the surgery. I took a few blankets, a toy, and his favorite bed to leave with him. They took him back and said it might take 20 minutes or two hours. (Depends on what they discover, and how quickly the surgeon can get to him, etc.). It ended up being just a little short of two hours. This is just for when they took him to the back. As I was sitting there I prayed some. I had been praying that the surgery would go well. Since it took so long I began to wonder if it was maybe better than what they thought. Don't know why my mind went there, but it did. So, I decided to pray that maybe the surgeon would come in and say it's fine, you can take him home, it's only a tiny fracture, is already almost healed, etc.

When they finally came in I still thought they were going to say he needed
surgery. I cannot express how thankful and relieved I was when they said what they did. I feel like my prayer was answered. I just have to take a moment to give Him all the thanks. Thank you Jesus for hearing my prayer and giving us some hope.

I am so glad you posted this! People don't realize that going to a specialist is not really as expensive as it sounds. Oh...if you need testing and/or surgery, yes, it can be very expensive....BUT a good specialist will never do unnecessary surgery!

Yay! So glad to hear a happy ending! I just came sooo close to sitting on my little pup! I had a drink in my right hand, Furgie was on the couch went to sit down and all of a sudden she was under me!!!! Took all I had to break my motion of sitting and not put full weight on her! Shook me up so bad! Having a small pup means being sooo careful!

So so so GLAD Peyton is doing good!!! And didn't need surgery!!! I just caught this thread today!!!
Do NOT beat yourself up...things can happen so quickly!!! And your baby is going to be just fine!! Give him hugs and kisses from me and my flower babies! Make sure he gets all the rest he needs!!
That will be your biggest challenge!
Let us know how it goes in the weeks to come....as they keep an eye on his leg!

I had to laugh at this. I'm glad that little Sophia is enjoying herself so much while brother Peyton heals up. Gotta love these babies!

I'm so glad you got good news at the specialists. I absolutely concure with going to a specialist whenever there is a question about care. A good vet is worth their weight in gold, but they are generalists and don't deal with everything that could possibly walk through their door on a regular basis. Yes, a visit might cost a bit more than the regular vet, but it's so worth it if it ends up saving you time, worry and unneeded treatments. (As we speak, I'm on my way out the door to get Scarlett seen by the opthamologist.)

Now, try to keep that little guy quiet. I know that's easier said than done, but it will help prevent any set backs while he is healing. Good luck.
