| ![]() I am so sorry to hear about your baby. I lost my Tenci this past July to CT. It was very sudden, my vet had told me she was fine. For me it is a nightmare that wont end. I dont know your little ones exact situation, but I do know of a little boy who against all odds has survived CT surgery. Go to www.yorkiesinc.com and read Cupids story. I know that you love your little one with all of your heart, as I did my Tenci. I wish I had knew what was wrong with her before it was too late. I would have did anything to give her a chance at life. Maybe if you could get your little one to a teaching hospital, or a specialist in CT surgery there would be some hope. I will keep you both in my prayers.

| ![]() I am so sorry to hear about poor Gretta. I can not imagine how hard it is for you to watch her having difficulty breathing and know that you have to make this decision. I helped my roommate through putting two cats to sleep. We were lucky to find a vet that came to our house so they could pass in the comfort of their own home and not have to be stressed out by all the activity at the vets on top of the all ready difficult situation. My heart goes out to you. Deep peace to you sweet Gretta your mommy loves you very much. Last edited by Buster Brown; 01-05-2011 at 04:39 PM. |

| ![]() Hi... I am Cupid's Mother and he had the trachea stent operation in June 2010. He also had a very severe collaspe, did not respond to medications, and needed to spend time in oxygen cages... I feel his operation was a sucess...while he still needs to be on cough medications he is no longer struggling to breathe and can play like the puppy he is He was 9 months old when he had the surgery Cupid has an abnormal trachea (after the collaspe which is now fixed from the stent) and lung damage due to him having pneumonia that was never treated till he came into Yorkies Inc..those are the issues that are still causing him problems not the stent at all...he has responded well to the stent and has good air flow... The operation took less than an hour (and he was neutered) and he came home the next day... he had the stent not the trachea rings..which are more invasive..my vet felt he would not survive that surgery due to his small size. He was about 3lbs at the time of the operation... While the stent does not correct the issue and it is only a temp fix...I would do it all over again with Cupid...I know others have not had as much success but they are now using a different material for the stent and they (Tufts Medical School in Boston Ma) has seen great results with the new stents... I wish you the best of luck with your decisions...please go read Cupids story and if you have any questions just let me know...

| ![]() Try some Hylands kids honey cough syrup when ur little one is like that it relaxes the spasm causing it..it has an antispasmatic in it..i know it has helped many dogs with the traechia problems...along with a good home cooked meal...moist food is the best ..fruits Last edited by YoRkiE Te aMo; 01-05-2011 at 06:06 PM. | ![]() I'm so sorry to hear about your plight. I really can't offer much advice, but I do know that many vets will come to your house -- if you decide euthenasia is in the best interest of the dog. Often, doing the procedure at home can be easier on both you and the dog. Hope and pray it doesn't come to that. |

| ![]() Oh ![]() It looks like you have some good suggestions. Homecooked food(moist), the Hylands children's cough meds, the fan, the teaching hospital...etc. I hope this helps your little girl and eases her symptoms.

| ![]()
When it gets to a point where it's a constant struggle to breathe... yes. Keep an eye on her tongue and gums... if they are pink it's good... when they start to turn purple... she's not getting enough oxygen. You could try a few things... put her in a cooler environment... sometimes heat worsens the condition. You could also try setting up a fan to blow on her... Princes Mom did say this helped Prince when he got really bad...
Being in a cooler environment did help Prince, for a while. We also used a humidifier day and night. We kept our ceiling fan on 24/7.

| ![]() Yesterday, 1-5-2011, my dear sweet Gretta went up to heaven. I knew it was time and I couldn't make her struggle anymore in this life. I miss her so much, she was such a dear and comforting friend to me. It hurts because she was so young and full of life. Her disintegration progressed so rapidly from onset to the end in a matter of 1 1/2 months; if that long. She went very quickly and I held her afterward. It was her birthday yesterday. She lived for one year, but I know it was the best life she could have lived, we had such a special bond. Thank you so much everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support, it has meant so much to me. |
