Hi...

I am Cupid's Mother and he had the trachea stent operation in June 2010. He also had a very severe collaspe, did not respond to medications, and needed to spend time in oxygen cages...

I feel his operation was a sucess...while he still needs to be on cough medications he is no longer struggling to breathe and can play like the puppy he is He was 9 months old when he had the surgery

Cupid has an abnormal trachea (after the collaspe which is now fixed from the stent) and lung damage due to him having pneumonia that was never treated till he came into Yorkies Inc..those are the issues that are still causing him problems not the stent at all...he has responded well to the stent and has good air flow...

The operation took less than an hour (and he was neutered) and he came home the next day... he had the stent not the trachea rings..which are more invasive..my vet felt he would not survive that surgery due to his small size. He was about 3lbs at the time of the operation...

While the stent does not correct the issue and it is only a temp fix...I would do it all over again with Cupid...I know others have not had as much success but they are now using a different material for the stent and they (Tufts Medical School in Boston Ma) has seen great results with the new stents...

I wish you the best of luck with your decisions...please go read Cupids story and if you have any questions just let me know...
