| Just seeing this. I hope you were able to find out what was wrong with Rocco and he found some relief. Will check back for update. |

You've had a terrible day. If the test results don't give you a good answer, I think I would be asking for a specialist. Please keep us updated. Still thinking of Rocco and sending prayers for him.

| Update: his stools! I am running on empty, and about 8 hours of sleep the entire weekend. As of this morning, Rocco has liquid, bright yellow stools with some mucus. I fed him boiled chicken and rice again this morning...am I missing something? What am I doing wrong? Other than the stool thing now, he is still behaving markedly more normal than a couple of days ago. I'm waiting for my vet to open and I will call. However, I also have to call the pediatrician for my daughter, who is home sick with a possible tonsillar abscess (she was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for this on the other side); they said if it continues, a tonsillectomy is in order (she 16) . Oh, and did I mention my 12yo son is also home sick with aches and a sore throat? So sorry for the babble, but any ideas/input would be appreciated till I can get in touch with Rocco's vet. Then maybe I'll go to work. When it rains it pours.

| It may help to have him Bile Acid Tested at this point. Even though he has no other symptoms.... many dogs don't show symptoms. If your vet is not familiar with doing BAT testing... do see a specialist...

| Urine sample is ok Update: got a call today from the ER vet, who said the urine culture is negative, but will give it another 24 hours to be sure nothing develops. Also, the x-ray was confirmed by a specialist to be insignificant (no stones found, tracts clear). My vet will do a bile acid test if Rocco doesn't improve. I can't say he's not better but he's still not regular. He can pee now, but after he's done, he continues to lift his leg and nothing comes out. I bring him in, and he goes back out and lifts 5-10 more times, holding his leg up for up to a minute waiting for something to come out. He's also doing a funny squat - cross between a puppy squat and a bowel movement squat...? I'm just desperate to have answers. Still waiting for the fecal test results, should have tomorrow.

| Yes, he said he would follow up with a BAT as well as an ultrasound if necessary to check for a liver shunt, but he's currently more concerned with Rocco's unfounded urge to urinate. There are no definitive symptoms related to liver shunt right now. Even if there was a liver issue, he cannot at all relate that to the urination urge. Also, since Rocco's eating and drinking and mostly well otherwise, he wants to focus on what's causing his urinition issue since this is the immediate problem.

| Thank you, the kids are doing ok - no strep. I know we're all looking forward to a New Year, if for nothing other than the idea of a fresh start!

| I'm curious....has any blood work been done? I don't see it mentioned. That would be my first step before BATs. Actually, before anything. I suggested that before but still have not seen that it was done. If pancreatitis was even thought of, blood work should be done imho. It would also show if the kidneys were involved.
