| I need your help Okay, this is not exactly an emergency; at least not for my little 10 year old guy...but it is for his mom. As I have shared in a previous post I am 51 and lost my husband last April. His passing was very sudden and I get really freaked out about alot of things now. I am alone as I have no family in town. No family that is except for our 10 year old yorkie, who is a Blessing beyond belief. I have had a terrible week and as I type this the tears are flowing. And as the tears flow he is doing everything in his power to help me; bless his little heart. He has a history of bladder stones. I get him checked about every three months and the last several tests have come back fine. I am taking in another sample on Monday. The thing that is scaring me is I believe he is becoming incontinent. When I get home from work his tummy is often wet; however, I have not found any wet spots in the house. It is all carpet; but I have not been able to find any evidence of anything. My question is; if he IS becoming incontinent what is the prognosis? If it isn't incontinence any idea of what else could be going on? I watch him when we walk and he is peeing fine. I am terified of losing him. Please be honest; I want to be prepared for what I may be facing. I will of course discuss it with the Vet; but I just don't think I can make it through the weekend without having some idea of what I may be facing. Again, Please be honest. Don't tell me something just to make me feel better. Thanks for listening! |

| I am so sorry for all you have been through in the past year! I don't have any experience with incontinece in yorkies, I'm sure there are others on here that can give you more information! I was an RN for Hospice and had some other ideas. Looking at your past posts it seems like you have been very worried about your little furbaby! It seems like you are so scared you are going to loose him too! Most of the time it looks like after all your worries he was fine. This can happen a lot after suffering such a devastaing loss. Lossing your husband in his fifty's and just having your little one for support must be so hard. I think that he would be showing other signs, like peeing blood, in pain or just fatigued if he was really serious, but it's always a good idea to call your vet. He may also sense your tension and may have reverted into peeing on the carpets. I'm sending lots of hugs your way, by the way do you go to a grief support group? They are so helpful! If you'd like to talk just PM me! Im on here all the time! I just turned 50 and my husband is 52 and I cant imagine life without him! Please take care of yourself. I'll be praying for you!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I don't have any experience with incontinence either but could it be he is kicking himself and that is why he is wet. Does it smell like urine? Could he be peeing a little from excitement when you come home? I think it is encouraging that he has been watched closely by the vet. Hopefully it is nothing serious or nothing at all. I know you must feel so alone but we are all here for you.

| Maybe your pup is just excited when you come home and a little pee comes out. I'm sure he will be fine. Sending hugs and good thoughts to you!!! |

| I really think he is just terribly excited when you come home and is leaking a little bit. The urine sample can be checked to see if he might have a little infection, too. Mention it to the vet. Also, if he ever begins to have problems someday, there is medication to help that, too. I understand your fear of losing him. I did the same thing at times with Muffin. But I really want to urge you to enjoy him and not get so upset before the vet ever gives you a diagnosis. Also, he can sense your emotional upset and it upsets him, too, because he doesn't know what is wrong. Enjoy him now and worry later!

| Does he seem to be drinking way more than normal? Our little guy had bladder stones and had surgery for it end of 2009. We also get him checked every three months with an xray at month 6 and another one coming up for his 1 year. Unfortunately, we did discover at the first 3 month mark that he developed diabetes. Houston was always the most housetrained of our brood and it was totally unlike him. Since you have found no evidence of urine anywhere, it could just be the excitement of your coming home (our little Zander is a "Welcome Home" piddler). With Houston, if he does have to go and its inside and not near his pee pad he hides to do it, almost like he is embarrassed or gonna get in trouble (I noticed him going behind a chair in the corner). I just picked him up and loved on him because I know the little fellow couldn't help it (I had accidently blocked his path to the pee pad-so bad dad). Incontinence (if this is what it is) may not be a sign of anything serious at all, just be patient and calm and discuss with the vet.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Im sorry that you lost your husband you also sound very lonley at the moment and I hope you have some good friends to help you through this difficult time. AND you always have us here at YT if you ever need to talk. Because you arnt finding any pee patches on the carpet I think he may just be, as the others have said, excited to see you and pees a little. I would talk this over with the vet. If he is becoming incontinent then its not a huge problem.. my old schauzer cross is incontinent and she gets some drops from the vet which we put in her dinner every day to control it. Good luck.
