| peanut's limping Hi i'm new to this so please be patient with me. Anyway my peanut is almost 15 months old. When he was about 12 weeks old he got closed in a door, he was yelping and crying and wouldn't put any weight on his left rear leg. I rushed him to the vet and she did a x-ray because she thought either his hip or leg was broken. Anyway it wasn't she thought it was probably just bruised so she gave him a shot i don't know exactly what it was but it was for inflamation and she also gave me some rimadyl to give him. The next day he was fine. I noticed him favoring that leg but it never lasted and he had no tenderness when i check it. Anyway tonite he has been holding his leg up and won't use it. There is no tenderness and otherwise he is fine, he is running around chassing the cat and he's also jumping on and off the sofa like normal. He has been this way since about 6pm. does anyone have any ideas, thank you for taking the time to read this |

| I'm no expert or professional but my little Toby started doing that 2 1/2 weeks ago and through the advice of other YT'ers, they suggested he might have luxating patella (LP) and he does. Grade 2 in the right rear leg and Grade 3/4 in the left rear leg. There are other YT members that have a lot more experience and might recognize the symptoms. Best of luck and please keep ups posted. If it is LP, when you rub his leg he won't yelp or cry in pain (at least Toby never has.) I took Toby to the vet the very next day after he started limping and they put him on Rimadyl.

| I agree. If your vet doesn't find anything, I'd get a second opinion. Something is going on with that leg. Good luck and let us know what you find out. Perhaps he just hurt it some way when you weren't around or landed wrong and it is nothing serious. Whatever it is, I'd want it checked out well.

| I think it's always best to be safe than sorry. His jumping around on it right now isn't good for it. I would limit his jumping if he's limping.

| Buster is limping on his front leg from jumping down off the couch and jamming his front shoulder. The vet also put him on Rimadyl. I learned that Rimadyl has SERIOUS and POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATING REACTIONS from this web site so I am being very cautious. http://www.srdogs.com/Pages/rimadyl.html Please check out this information if your dog is on Rimadyl. |
