| tucked (innie) vulva My little Claire is 6.5 months old the last few days I thought maybe she was going into heat because she started licking herself a lot down their. I checked her out closely down there last night and her vulva looks like an innie and doesn't not look like my other girls. I've attached pictures. She is not acting sick and she is eating fine and has no problems going pee either. I started searching the web about innies and ran across information on tucked vulva and her looks a bit like the pictures. What I've read is if she does have this it is better to let them have a first heat and it may straighten itself out. Has anyone heard of this? I've been waiting to get my older girls fixed because my pet insurance to goes effect on the 14th this month and it will cover getting their baby teeth removed. Now I'm glad I have the insurance but it won't cover anything but accidents until the 14th so if I take her in now it will be a preexisting condition. Again she isn't acting sick so should I wait? |

| Let me start off by saying, I am not a vet. But I do remember my vet saying something to me about this when I asked about getting Ruby spayed. My question to the vet was: Should I wait for Ruby's first cycle before I get her spayed or can we do it before. My vet looked at Ruby's vulva and said, "She has a nice vulva and it's better to spay before their first cycle because then their chances of breast cancer are cut by 99%." she mentioned that if the vulva had not completely dropped it's best to wait for the first cycle. So since she complimented Ruby's vulva (lol) I didn't question further about the dropped vulva term she used. But thinking back on it, I wonder if that's the case with your little one. As far as waiting, I can't say, because I think we all have that mommy instinct and we know when to wait and when to run to the vet. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you, just thought I'd mention what I remember our vet telling me. Leslie |

| Maybe I'm blinder than I thought, but I am not seeing what you're seeing, I suppose. It looks just like my girl's - to me.

| Could it just be that she is so young and small yet? I don't really know. I have never heard of it, but if you really want to ask someone who might know more about it, then you could try posting the same thread in the "breeder" section. If anyone knew anything about it, I would think they would. Good luck!
