Good morning all, Bella is still showing great improvement! She didn't like the kennel last night, which I guess it is good because she has never been crated that she can remember anyway. Bill got her out of the kennel and put her in her bed in the living room, and she slept there all night. I over slept this morning, and didn't get up until about 8:30. I've been getting up with her about 7:00. She was just fine, she wasn't in her bed though, she had gone to a big pillow underneath the coffee table. When she saw me, she RAN up to me and stood on her hine legs and put her front paws on my leg for me to pick her up. This is a huge huge huge step for her. She hasn't been able to express any of her desires to us. She's still eating the Hills ld with the fresh pet grated over it to fool her. She's sort of running around the pool now when she goes out. She's poo'ing and peeing outside like a good little girl. We now know she can smell, because she's always got her nose to the air like all these smells are new to her. She's been going in the pantry and standing on the kibble bag sniffing it! She's never ever gone in there. I'm figuring if her eye sight, taste, and smell are coming back maybe with God's help, and her good medical care, her hearing will return. She's sleeping in her bed now, as she tires easily, but her breathing is day by day getting stronger and stronger.

At about 12 midnight that night, Bella was definitely better and looking like she didn't need to go in to the vet. She was walking around, walking to the water bowl, acting pretty normal, etc. Then about 5 a.m. she took a drastic turn for the worse, that's when she lost all muscle control, and the weakness began. We took her on in to Dr. Rich at Cheek to Cheek Hospital for Animals then. I made the wrong call by not taking her on in even though she was doing better. We got her in about 5 a.m. I hope I didn't send the wrong message out there about "Georgia". We do have emergency animal hospitals here! And Georgia is definitely not just some "hick" state located in the south! I apologize if I came across that way. I don't think that any of us realized that she had ingested a mushroom until a little later in the morning after her bloodwork came back. When it happened, after I discovered her eating something, I went and picked her up, and when I picked her up she vomited up something white. I may not have said that in my original thread, but knowing that she had already vomited is why I think they didn't induce vomiting. Believe you me, as a precautionary measure, I will now have syrup of Ipacac or hydrogen peroxide in the medicine cabinet from now on. And we case the yard frequently through the day to make sure we get all the mushrooms out that have popped up. Princes Mom, do you have them in the part of Georgia that you are in? I am assuming you are in the Atlanta area. With this wet season we are having down here they are popping up everywhere.

Anyway, anytime an animal goes unresponsive, it is an emergency even if they come out of it. It is concerning that a vet would say otherwise. Since it happened when playing outside, it was obv. toxin ingestion or possibly heat (and of course LS still can't be ruled out...could have set it off).

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() That's a good plan for everyone. I have the directions programed in to my car's GPS as a saved address, just in case. I also have the phone number laminated along with some other stuff in my doggie first aid kit. You just never know when you might need it.

| ![]() Dr Rich's office is the emergency vet that I chose. They are wonderful people. Well, her alt is down from 6,000+ to 900!!!! Absolutely amazing. Her Bile acid will be done in two weeks. 1st one on a 12 hour fast and the second 2 hours after she eats. The Bile acid down's come down as rapidly as the ALT is the reason for waiting on those levels. I'm thrilled, and as excited as I can possibly be.
