| Just seeing this. I am curious...did the original vet do any lab studies? I did not see a mention of it. His symptoms sounded so much like pancreatitis although could be many things. Any time a dog vomits that much, he should go to a vet immediately. I am just mentioning this for future reference. I do hope he is better today. Poor little guy.

Well, we spent the afternoon at the hospital with Mickey. He really had me worried at first. When they brought him into the little room we were in, he was shaking and making this funny little crying sound that I've never heard from him. He did seem happy to see us though. I wrapped him in a towel and held him and after a while, he calmed right down and had a nice nap on my lap. I asked to see where he was being kept and they took me right back into the hospital to his little "room". I told them that he had to be kept warm, and they added more blankets for him and the nurse even wrapped him up. He seemed so much better when we left. They are taking very good care of him. He is on an IV and they are still waiting on test results. I think they got him to eat a small amount of bland food, but I didn't have any luck trying to feed him. He did have a small bout of diarrhea before we arrived. We'll call this evening if we don't hear from them...Right now, though, it's a waiting game. They said because of the holiday weekend, there might be a delay on test results, but hope to know more by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Thanks again for all of the well wishes and advice. Lady Jane thanks for the link. I tried to do a search on it but didn't find the very helpful link you shared. Thanks! Oh and as for doing blood work originally, our vet's office did not do it. I'm still a little puzzled as to why, but the dr. told me that she felt if Mickey had pancreatitis that his stomach would be very sore and painful to touch. I immediately thought of pancreatitis, but they ruled that out for sure at the emergency vet hospital.

We spent a couple of hours at the vet hospital today. Mickey is doing much better. When they brought him into the exam room where we were meeting him, he was all excited--tail wagging, etc. A far cry from how he looked yesterday. He seemed like himself. He still has an IV in, but they let us walk him a little outside and play with him a little. He seemed so much better. We haven't talked to the dr. yet today, (they were extremely busy there today--many emergencies coming in while we waited), but one of the technologists told us that he had eaten in the morning and hadn't vomited/had diarrhea all day. Such good news! I still think they want to do the biopsy on his stomach tomorrow, but like I said, I haven't talked to a dr. and I don't know what the results of his tests were. I'll keep you updated. Thanks again for all of the well wishes.

Mickey is home!! They called late last night to tell us that he was doing well and we could come and get him. We went this morning mostly because I wanted him to have a few more hours of no vomiting to be sure--just so we wouldn't get home and have to take him right back. he's on a special diet and is taking 3 kinds of meds. right now. So far, we haven't received any test results. The dr. told me that they were backed up due to the holiday weekend and would most likely have the results tonight. We will take him to an internal medicine specialist later this week, after we get a referral from the ER dr. I'll let you know what they find out when I hear.

when my dog throws up that nasty yellow stuff its because she didn't eat enough.& it could be from new foods or parasites. when a yorkie eats new foods it can get hypoglycemia.
