Daisy's in the hospital!!! I'm Heartbroken

Ohhh Joyce . . .I'm sure Daisy is just being fickle about eating because she wants to be home with you. Still thinking of you and keeping good thoughts.

When I got home last night Pixie wouldn't stop sniffing me and she kept running around the house looking for Daisy. Pixie misses her chew toy
she doesn't have those soft fluffy ears to chew.

I agree with the others that posted for you to go and see if she will eat for you I bet she does and it will be good for both of you to get together - I think it helps for them to know you are there for them too. It makes them fight harder. When dex was in the hospital I went twice a day - the hardest part was leaving as he was panting and so depressed but I think it gave him hope to keep fighting

Does anyone know what the ALP liver enzyme is that is the one test result that is not moving much. Her ALT is 600 from 1800 and the Alp is 1300 from 1900 GGT went from 68 to 44

I am trying to understand all this and it is so confusing to me. Does anyone have a website that can explain these results and what it means?

ALP is Alkaline Phosphatase level. Elevated levels can indicate liver or bone diseases as well as Cushing's disease.

I am so sorry she isn't eating again. Is there any way she could come home at night and go back for treatment during the day. I did that when one of mine had HGE. They just left the iv cath in so they could treat her during the day. I don't know if she needs more monitoring so it may not be an option. Keeping her in my prayers.

ALP is super sensitive. When Barney had pancreatitis, his ALP numbers were all over the place. And, three months later, his ALP is still elevated. He too is an older dog, and cushings may be implicated but the thought is that the pancreatitis may be the cause.

Are they sending this blood work out to a lab? I've seen my dogs' blood work jump all over the map on in-house blood work only to have Amgen lab send it back with more consistent numbers.

I'm sorry she is not yet 100% and we keep praying for you guys!

you mean antech lol Do you work at Amgen? I know that company as I own stock in their company lol

I agree i do not like in house lab work as if they do not calibrate their machines well they are not accurate

Ooops, yes, I meant Antech. Sorry, I dont work for Amgen and I'm not sure the investment in their stock is a good one

the reason I know about them mostly is I can walk to their facility as it is where I live and every one of my neighbors is an amgen executive lolllll Gotta love those relo packages

The vet just called and her ALP lvls are shooting back up. I am so upset!! I thought that she was on the road to recovery when they went down yesterday. Her Alt stayed the same We are going ahead with an ultrasound with a specialist.
my poor Daisy, I just pray it isn't cancer...
What else would make her ALP lvls shoot back up they are 1600

I'm sorry you are on this rollercoaster of emotions, as you described it. Praying for you that the ultrasound and specialist can give you answers and get Daisy on the road to recovery. Hang in there.
