![]() the group watched the video and here is the response one member wanted me to post for you If your Yorkie was vaccinated recently, it could have triggered GME encephalitis, which is common in Yorkies, Pugs, and Maltese. Have infectious tests run first and then you'll need a spinal tap. Chemo and pred and the right dose of pred is the only treatment for this. The immune system has gone haywire and is attacking the brain. Time is of the essence in getting them into remisson, so if she doesn't improve don't wait!!! There is a Yahoo group dedicated to saving GME dogs called NewGMEdogs. If you get that diagnosis, the people on that site are very experienced with this disease. I am so sorry. Your dog looks just like mine did when he was diagnosed with GME. He's alive two years later, so there is hope, but don't wait.

![]() here is another response As for the microchip, the immune system can go haywire with anything foreign to the body such as invading organisms, vaccinations, tick bites, injuries, etc.

![]() here is another response from a member ![]() Definitely something neurological and considering the vaccinations recently and being a Yorkie, it's sure a big chance. Aside from sudden sadness watching that video, it absolutely INFURIATES me that the veterinary community does nothing about the amount of vaccine small dogs get. They get the same amount for their little amount of weight as a Great Dane. Can you believe that? When will it change? No wonder there are few big dog breeds that come down with GME.

![]() So very sorry that you and your baby are suffering thrugh this. I pray that all will be well. These horrible things are everybodys worst nightmare. It could happen to any one of our little furbabies. Your story scares me as my vet has said he will spay my 6 mth old next week, and do all her shots (breeder "forgot" to give any shots after 8 weeks), and microchip. She is a big girl for 6 mths, about 9 or 10 lbs, but now I am very nervous about all this at the same time.

I feel it's to much for them to handle all at once.
