| Cookie has laryngitis My Cookie lost her voice a few days ago. She is a very vocal girl but this has never happened before, so I don't think it is from strain. I know allergies are bad this year and she has had more occurences of reverse sneeze lately, so it could be that. Anyway....just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? And....if so, HOW did you keep them quiet? haha She is still yapping and she needs to rest her voice. I did take her to the vet the other day. She had a cortisone injection and was put on hydroxizine, but yesterday it persisted; so the vet started her on antibiotics. If she is not improved by the beginning of the week the next step will be an xray. I have such a fear that this could be a tumor. Of course, we will scope her if she does not improve, but that is not top on the list to do right now. She does not have any difficulty swallowing or breathing, so perhaps it is just a sore throat...or she strained it. Please say prayers for my Cookie.

| I didn't know dogs can get laryngitis. This year's allergy hit us bad. Both Guinness and I were sneezing terribly. His holistic vet said to give him a little unfilter local raw honey and said it would work for me too. We located a honey farm 2 miles aways from us and after taking the honey for two weeks, it worked, we stop sneezing.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ahhh....I hate to hear Cookie has lost her voice. I know as mom's we fear the worst but most likely it will be something like allergies and her meds will clear it up. Give her a hug from us....and ...maybe some of the doggy ice cream to help sooth her throat?

| Thank you everyone! You know, I think that YorkieTherapy has a great idea...I am going to look into some honey. Never thought about that! That might be soothing and I am sure she will enjoy it anyway. But, do I really have to go find a bee hive?? Surely I can find it in a store somewhere??

| Yikes...I was looking for raw, unfiltered honey in the Houston area and found this: Doctors warn allergy sufferers of using unfiltered honey as remedy | khou.com | Houston News, Local News, Breaking News, Weather | Health News So much for THAT idea. I am going to go buy some honey at the store, though. It might soothe her throat.

The honey farm also had filtered honey, I think I'll get some of that instead.

| Cookie can't talk? Your house must be so quiet All serious~don't start worrying yourself. Poor baby probably has an allergy reaction like the vet is suspecting. Pebbles has been doing this weird cough and the vet said the same thing about allergies being bad this year. Hopefully the meds will kick in and she will be back to her usual barking self.

| Aww, I'm sorry. I hope Cookie is doing better soon! I didn't know dogs could get that either! Camden couldn't bark for a few days after her surgery, but that was due to the tube. Prayers for Cookie!!

| Hey Linda, How is Cookie doing this morning? Is she coughing? From what I am reading it sounds like an upper resp infection. You might want to keep her comfortable with little exercise maybe in an xpen and if you have a humidifier keep it near her. Breathing treatments are good. Let me know if you need anything.
