When she first came to me, I thought I would lose my mind. She barked and barked...should I say screamed....almost constantly. I finally realized one day that I was part of the problem. If I was on the phone, I would pick her up to quiet her. Well, you know what happened then! So....I had to go through a couple of weeks of ignoring her until she got the idea that it was not going to work. She also had a little "talk" (hard to describe, but something like a cute growl) and I started to encourage that instead....well now if she wants my attention, she talks to me! She and I actually have conversations at times...she is a total hoot! So much personality packed into her! She loves to go outside and bark at the birds! The mockingbirds actually swoop down to tease her....oh, and we have one squirrel that goes up the pole in my backyard and stares at her while she hollars at him.

| Very glad to hear that she is getting better, and will soon be a noise machine again. Maxine sneezes when she wants your attention. If that does not work, she will let out a bark every 10 seconds. When that does not work, she bites Carlo, who runs away, and that gets out attention! |

| Happy news. Kacee talks to me just the way yours does. I know exactly what you're talking about. It actually sounds like they are trying to say words!

| Glad Cookie is better and can get back to barking. Lucy has a screeching, high pitched bark . . nails on a chalkboard. Usually she whines very loudly if she wants something and that is very effective for her! |

| Hi all - new to the site! One of my Yorkies started gaging yesterday and started loosing her voice right after that. Now she has a quiet hoarse bark and she is very vocal. She is still active and eating well. Any suggestions would greatly help. |

| Welcome to YT. My suggestion would be to take her to the vet.

You might want to start your own thread for her so it is not as confusing. Some people will think this is about Cookie. Just go to: Forums ... then Sick & Injured .. and then click on New Thread. You can then begin your own thread and you will probably get more feedback! Welcome to YT.
