Marge is cooking up a big pot of Rice and Chicken to bring to him tonight. We are looking forward to a visit with him tonight. He still has not eaten, but the Docs there are not worried. He is doing well, and recovering nicely. Maybe some Chicken/Rice will help his appretite. Thanks again to everyone. |

Glad he has you!!! Keeping prayers your way |
Glad he came through surgery so well. Sending prayers for Carlo. I'm sure Maxine is lost without him.:) |
Update as of 9:10 pm. Just got back from the Aninal Hospital. We got to visit with the big guy in a room. He did not want anything to do with the Chicken and Rice, or any type of food. He had 2 big pain patches on his side, and still have 2 IV lines. He was pretty listless for the visit. He either stood by us, or laided down on the floor next to us. You can tell how tired he is, and I am sure the Pain meds are also keeping him groggy. Tomorrow is another day, and we will get an early update and will go visit with him. I doubt he will be released until Sunday at the earliest. He did perk up when I asked if he wanted to go for a WALK. He lifted his head and pointed his ears, but then he just put his head down. Very sad. My wife was crying as we left and he was taken to the back. It's really is hard on everyone. |
Hoping he will feel a lot better tomorrow. A day can make a big difference after major surgery. I feel so lucky we are in an area with great specialty vets. Give your wife a hug! |
Bless your hearts, I'm sure it was an emotional visit. That's a good sign about him at first being interested in the walk:) And, I'm sure the pain meds are making him listless and probably are affecting his appetite. |
Good to hear he did well thru sugery. Hopefully he will eat tomorrow. I know you and your family miss him terribly:( Hope he comes home soon. |
Patti, indeed we are lucky. He is at the Hospital in Skokie. Every Doc there is a specialist. Surgical, Radiology, Neurology, Ortho, Internam Medicine, Emergency, you name it, they have it. They really do a great job. Times like thism glad I am not living in the wilderness of Montana. Not that I am knocking Montana. I hug Marge at least 3 times a day, even when she is giving me the MEAN look. No idea why she would do that! LOL. Thank you for your thoughts. |
I'm sure it was hard to leave him and probably sad for you that he wouldn't eat, too. |
sorry to hear he is not eating. have you tried bringing in his regular food or a can of wet from his brand? I used to be a vet tech at a hospital like the one Carlo is at. I worked for the surgeons. We would try everything in the hospital to get a patient to eat. the regular brand of maintenance food (which was science diet...), i/d and a/d (which are prescription diets that the hospital should have. the a/d is usually a tasty favorite), mighty dog (crap foods are always delicious to them), and chicken or beef baby food. Also warming the food up might appeal more to them. I'm sure the tech's tried all this but it never hurts to ask. if he's not eating by tomorrow i'd try just about anything to get him to eat, even if its mighty dog or cesars. they may not be good for them long term but its food and if it gets them to eat then whoo-hoo |
