| ![]() What did the Vet tell you to do? It can't be pleasant to only poop after an enema. Did the vet have any suggestions? |

| ![]() My little girl is almost 17 and sometimes it is difficult for her to go to the bathroom on her own. I slowly apply just a little pressure on the anal glands to help her when she can't go on her own. He is probably trembling because it hurts him and he needs to go to the bathroom. I would worry about giving him the enema a lot. He needs to keep the muscle tone in the anal region. I hope he gets better soon. Last edited by lisaly; 05-09-2010 at 05:32 AM. | ![]() Hi all. Can anyone tell me what is the best diet? I am going to change his diet for a bit, but I don't want to give him something that is going to kill him later. I just don't know, the vet can't find any thing wrong. He had xrays and blood work. Now I guess I have to act fast and don't have a clue as what to do. He has been on raw since he was 6 weeks old. I just need advise and the Vet don't seem to be giving it. Thanks to all Patches and Willy |

| ![]() Have you thought about trying honest kitchen it is a dehydrated raw food that you add water to. go to their website and send them an email they are very helpful. You could also try a kibble that has grain in it for the fiber. Wellness is a good dog food. they have a small breed formula. I would be very careful switching his food up though. Do lots of research. I was wondering what if you gave him a tsp of canned pumpkin after he eats.

| ![]() Sounds like a confusing situation you have! I'm sure you are worried, I know I am if mine don't poop daily! It sounds like the vets have been doing all the proper things. I agree that I would try changing up the diet & feed pumpkin & green beans to try and trigger something! Best of luck!

| ![]() I don't want to play vet here, but since he's been seen by 2 vets already that found nothing wrong, why not just give him some mineral oil to grease up the ole poop chute? One teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight mixed with his food, not given directly. The enemas are probably just loosening up the poop on the tail end and what you need is something to work further up on the impacted poop and that's where the oil would help. He may need an enema to get things started but the oil should help once things are moving. I have read that stress can bring on constipation and if that's the case, this may clear up for you but you may want to add more fiber to his diet.

| ![]() My Lucy eats the Wellness brand as well and has perfect little tootsie roll poops. (TMI, I know). My Westie eats Blue Buffalo Wilderness and he looves it. It's a little too high protein for her because she has other issues. But neither have constipation issues. Lucy also loves carrots on her food and she loves little bits of peeled apple too. |

| ![]() Can you slowly add some dry kibble to his food? Try Hill Science Diet small breed dry puppy food. That's what I would do. Callie |
