Thanks guys! Her back leg movements while she's dragging are getting stronger and stronger! She's sometimes getting a little bit of lift in the back end. I know she will be a spinal walker one of these days :D Today she is at the university for massage and acupuncture. Lucky girl! |
I'm hoping one of these days to read of her walking, too. She's bound to get stronger and stronger as time passes from the progress she's made lately. Her cart is probably doing more good than anyone knows. Keep on traveling, Layla!:D |
Wow I've just finished reading the whole thread. You are incredible. Don't ever forget that. :) Your little girl is soooo lucky to have come home with you. I'm sure she knows that, too. Big hugs to all of you. You're absolutely fantastic. |
Thank you so much :) Layla is such a little celebrity now! At the university yesterday, a woman was there waiting to drop her dog off too. She said "I think I remember you guys from before! Your little dog was having troubles with her back legs?" and we talked about it and I put Layla down and she was scooting all over the place! The woman was just ecstatic to see her that way! We also just hired a new guy at work and he saw her for the first time today. He could not believe how happy she is! This morning, one of our contracted employees from Mexico brought her camera, and as soon as she took it out, Layla laid down and posed for her! She never poses for me lol. But she sat for so many pictures. She heard someone else come in and got up to look, but the girl was like "Layla! Another picture!" so she laid right down and looked back at her. So cute! |
I have been quietly following this thread from the beginning. But I just have to break my silence to tell you how proud I am of you and Layla. I am truly inspired, up lifted...in awe. Winston sends his love and doggie kisses to Layla...what a wonderful little girl you have. I keep her in my nightly prayers...and wait for the day for those prayers to be answered. |

We had a little setback on Friday. She had been sleeping for most of the day, not moving at all, other than to greet a few people who would walk by. At the end of the work day when her daddy came to pick us up, she went nuts and ran out to see him as usual. She came back to me, and he left to use the washroom and she ran out to find him again. I stayed at my desk working. She came zooming back when he got out of the bathroom and he went to pick her up to put her wheels on so they could run around together, but when he tried to pick her up, something wasn't right. He struggled to get her on her back to see what was wrong, and she had gotten rug burn so bad she had ripped some skin off on her tummy and was bleeding a lot :( This was after hours and nobody was really around, so I held her down while he went and found a first-aid kit and I cleaned it with an antiseptic wipe and tried to bandage it with some gauze. When we got home I cleaned it again, put on some polysporin and gauze and wrapped her with a tensor bandage! Poor girl... it looked so painful. Good thing she couldn't feel it! We kept her pretty immobile for the weekend so she wouldn't aggravate it more. It's looking better and healing, but I'm feeling like a bad mom for letting it happen! |
Poor baby, so glad it's healing. You are a great Mom!! :) |
awww poor baby! I'm sure she is appreciating all the help.. rugs do do that, amazing something soft can cause so much damage. I am glad to hear she is doing well with it though and it's healing good! She stood up! WOW! WOW! Go Layla! :) |
1 Attachment(s) Here is our princess Layla in bed a week or so ago :) We brought her up and snuggled with her when we woke up, but then we got out of bed and ready for the day and she just didn't want to leave! Her tummy is healing up nicely now. She wore a sweater to work yesterday and when she scooted, it came down far enough to cover her tummy and the top of her legs so she wasn't rubbing on the carpet. Until we started putting more clothes on her I didn't realize how much her back has "shrunk" since her surgery. She's got a bit of an arch in it now and it makes a huge difference. We put her one-peice PJ's on after she got her burn on Friday and the back end was totally pointless... the leg holes went WAY past the end of her body! |
:D:hearts-xxThe picture is too cute!!!! I'm glad Little Laylas rug burn is getting better :) Go Layla!!!! |
I have been gone for awhile( back surgery) but am so happy to catch up with you & Layla and find that she is doing so much better! I am really proud of you both and send my prayers and good thoughts for you all! |
Oh, so sorry about the rug burn...who'd of thought? But she sure looks totally content in the bed. I do think the onesies is a good idea when she's getting around without her wheels. Maybe they just need a slight alteration...or purchase a smaller size. Anyway, I still marvel at your little princess girl, all she's been through. My prayers will continue...my hopes and my dreams are with her and of course you as well. |
Oh honey, if anyone should ever feel like a bad mommy....it should NEVER ever be you!! Layla is one lucky girl to have you and her daddy too! Just reading to catch up with her progress.....geez, little Layla is truely one amazing little girl! Hi Lindsey, I had to catch up on Layla. I'm so sorry she got rug burn. It isn't your fault. This is all new to you, too! You have to learn as you go. I would love to have seen her getting her picture taken at work. That had to be too cute! The picture you posted is precious beyond words.:p |
