| ![]() Linz, I'm sorry to hear the hard blow from the vet. It sure must have made you bawl. I know I would have too. Nerves are a tricky thing. My mom has fibromyalsia which is a nerve disease and she's in pain all the time and taking tylenol or advil or anything like that does not even take the edge off because those work for muscles, not nerves. My heart just breaks for you and Layla. Don't give up hope! With the way my Dexter acts, he'd do anything if he didn't have to walk again and Mom carried him everywhere! lol What Im saying is I believe she is happiest in your arms anyways so if she's not sad, you don't be sad for her! ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I am trying not to be sad for her ![]() I really need to start working out more! I am at work with Layla, and I just printed out a large set of plans and I carried Layla over and put her on the floor while I pulled them out and sorted them. Well, a coworker came to talk to me and Layla scooted herself over a few feet to be close to him. Some scooting is okay at this stage since her back and spinal column is healed, I just have to be careful that she doesn't develop sores where she's dragging. Anyways, another coworker walked over and Layla scooted over to greet her! Then after realizing she can really move on this carpet stuff, she took off down the hall and around the corner! My paralyzed dog can outrun me on just two legs! That was enough adventure for her though, she is now fast asleep in her crate.

| ![]() When I caught up to her she was looking back over her shoulder at me and smiling! It was like "We need some of this stuff at home mom!" All we have at home is hardwood and she's scared to slip on it.

| ![]() You mean her front paws slip? Have you thought about getting her some of those rubber booties or rubber soled shoes? I've seen some that say they have non-skid bottoms. I think they were on YT member AllDogBoots website.

| ![]() I think we will look into that if she is having troubles in her cart. We haven't had issues with it yet because she has been crate rested or carried this far into her recovery. The biggest reason we chose our house is because of the original 1918 fir floors. It sucks that it has to be Layla's biggest issue now too! She may not have troubles when she has her wheels though, so we'll give it a test. She will be more balanced like a normal dog instead of carrying all of her weight in her front, with her back end on the floor.

| ![]() It's so good to read about Layla's high spirits! I'm so glad she's not depressed and I really think a big part of that is due to you and Scott. Go, Layla, go! ![]()

| ![]() I bet it was like a punch in the stomach for you to hear that from the vet. Just remember, Layla doesn't know what the vet said and there's always hope. We have all heard great stories about people who have overcome impossible odds, and I certainly hope Layla will be a dog who will have one of those stories too. She is so lucky you and Scott love her like you do. She really is a lucky little dog.

| ![]() Thanks again for the support. We remeasured her last night and sent in better measurements for her cart, and hopefully better pictures with them. It looks so easy in pictures but it is so hard for two people to hold her up with straight edges and a measuring tape showing different measurements AND take a picture of it all at the same time ![]() I woke up at 5:45 this morning to Layla crying and crying. I went to her crate and she was squished against the back wall, with her head in the corner. Her pillow was toppled over partially on her, but in front of the door. I picked up the pillow and there was a pile of poop under it that she was trying to hide and get away from! Poor girl! She didn't have any in her before bed so it must have happened overnight sometime, and I don't know how long she was crying for ![]()

| ![]() She had probably just done it not long before you heard her. You know how to make her feel better and forget it. Those are the moments that really count. ![]()
