| Hello, I have a 7month old male yorkie named Monster and i was out of town for the weekend and left him with my mom and my children for a day and a half, i came home and he was really lethargic, i thought maybe he was just tired, so i observed him thru the night, he began to tremble and i got scared so i called the vet and made an early appt 4 the morning, took him in vet did xrays and bloodwork said he had an infection of some sort and gave us Clavamox, its been 3 days now and Monster is not eating, wont walk around, and now has diarrhea.. WHAT is going on??? he has been by my side for the entire 3 days and now he is really sick and i am worried, but cannot afford another 300 dollar vet visit..i am a single parent and money is tight.. what do i do?? |

| He just said he had an infection and that his bowels looked a lil backed up. His pancreatic levels and blood work were all normal, he wasnt dehydrated and was pretty much healthy other than the issue that we presented with.. i am so confused. |

did they just do amylase and lipase on blood panel as i would take him back for a snap cpli test - call the vet and see if they have this as pancreatitis they will have high white blood cell count and sounds like that is why they said infection but when dex was sick his amylase and lipase were normal when he acted sick and high when not acting sick so it can bounce around alot and not the best way to determine pancreas in my opinion. Ask your mom and kids what they fed him when you were gone and if anything high in fat ?if bowels backed up he can be in pain from that as well so maybe give a little pumpkin from whole foods they have organic pumpkin Last edited by dwerten; 04-22-2010 at 06:54 AM. | |

| While i was gone my twin daughters had a small party for their 10th bday so it is possible that my little trash digger got into the trash or snagged a hot dog or something, i have scolded and yelled at my mom AND the kids...lol.. this lil guy will eat ANYTHING.. doesn't necessarily have to be food.. But anyway, i am taking him back to the vet at 12 for a recheck because he just will not eat, play, hasnt moved in an hour except to throw up and he keeps looking at me with the saddest look in his eyes...*sigh* hopefully this is not something serious, it would rip my heart out to lose my baby..:0( |

hot dogs are the worst thing you can give a dog No fatty foods for this breed they can go down hill fast with pancreatitis so take him in asap just to be safe. I would not wait on appt i would just go in nowthey ruled out blockage by xray so the way he is acting sounds like pancreatitis as mine did the same thing. Is he tossing and turning having a hard time getting comfortable ? you are in cali yeah 12:00 is to long to wait take him in now and just wait for them to see him - i would rather you be safe than sorry they did rule out parasites right like other poster posted by doing a thorough fecal ? and did they test urine as well? | Hello all, unfortunately my baby has an obstruction in his intestinal tract, not sure what it is, he needs surgery. I am currently trying to find some help with paying the vet bill. Any suggestions?? I need help fast!!! we are at 811.00 so far and he is there at the hospital, but needs to have the surgery by tomorrow at the latest.. I am soooo stressed and have no clue what to do. I tried to apply for carecredit, but was declined. my vet office doesnot offer payment plans and i am clueless what to do now.. |

| Yes they did an xray and bloodwork first, but then had to do a barium(sp?) xray where they could follow the dye down his intestinal tract.. BUT, i have some silver lining news i guess, I was put in contact with a nurse from a different vets office that is going to adopt my baby and her boss is going to do the surgery today. I am so broken, but i would rather save his life than keep him and watch him go slowly and suffer. I am meeting her in an hour so she can get him to her office and get him all better. Please pray for my family, this has really been a nightmare and my children are crushed. Monster is a part of our family.. he is their brother and to have to say goodbye to him is very hard on them right now. but the thing that makes it a lil bearable is that Karen(his new mommy) is a nurse and is an awesome lady that will make sure he gets a chance at a healthy life. tears are flowing around here, but we know that this is for his good. |
