did they just do amylase and lipase on blood panel as i would take him back for a snap cpli test - call the vet and see if they have this as pancreatitis they will have high white blood cell count and sounds like that is why they said infection but when dex was sick his amylase and lipase were normal when he acted sick and high when not acting sick so it can bounce around alot and not the best way to determine pancreas in my opinion. Ask your mom and kids what they fed him when you were gone and if anything high in fat ?
if bowels backed up he can be in pain from that as well so maybe give a little pumpkin from whole foods they have organic pumpkin
