| Excessive peeing? I'm not sure whether to post this in the sick or training section because I don't know what's wrong. When I take MuShu out for a walk, the 1st thing he does is pee. He sometimes pees during our mini "hike" and then again when we get in front of my apartment. So when we get back I make sure to go inside right away after he pees outside. Then he comes back inside and I let him play for a while. After 20-30 minutes he pees a HUGE puddle, far away from his pee pad. In about an hour he would pee 3-5 times. (Oh and yesterday there was a 5 hour gap between his pees, which isn't normal for him.) His pee doesn't have blood in it, but sometimes it's a little on the dark side... At first I thought this was a potty training issue, but now I'm unsure. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I wanted to clear this up. I've read about UTI's but not completely familiar with them. So what do you think? And we are going to the vet for a neuter in a week. Could this wait another week or do you suggest attention ASAP? P.S. I apologize for the lost post. I tried to summarize it

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | I wish I had the answer for you. I'm at a loss too. My Farrah would pee about every ten minutes or more up until about a week ago. She's 5 mos now. So when I first brought her home we thought she may have a UTI, but we waited it out and realized she is a "marker" and a bit spiteful. I know that after any good exercise they will need to pee...so that seems normal. Good luck.

| I would catch a urine sample and take it to the vet! Just call them...I am sure you can just do that rather than take him in for an exam. I definitely think you should do that now rather than wait. If he has an infection, it would be better to take care of it now.

| I have one Chihuahua girl that pee's on anyone elses pee. So she is a marker. You can watch her though and after the first couple of times she really doesn't get anything out. If he actually does have lots of urine coming each time I might have him checked by a vet. I know that I have a cat with diabetes and that causes excessive peeing if untreated. Does your dog drink a lot?

I have had many pups in my life, and have been able to get urine samples when needed. Might take longer with some, but it is not impossible.

| How to collect urine from a dog I had a poodle years ago that was peeing a lot. The vet told me to straighten out a metal coat hanger and bend the end in a loop. In the loop I placed a small cup. I followed the dog around until he started to pee and put it under him. I looked crazy--but it worked. |

| Since they are big spots, he should be checked for a UTI and it shouldn't wait a week. There are lots of suggestions on YT available for catching it and they are fine if you can, but the vet can take it if you an't or would rather not. Some will tell you to try first though.
