| Seizures, 2 yrs & 3lbs Hi everyone Mishka has had 2 seizures in 2 months, the Vet said that she is very tiny for him to draw blood. He wants her to gain some weight before he can do some tests on her.... PLEASE READ BELLOW I have my little Mishka, which is a little sweet maltese. She does seem to be a little slow. She has a bit of trouble eating, it seems like she picks up a piece of food then it falls from her mouth then she picks it up again, and again and again, until she eats the little piece. I did notice that she perked up when she heard me eating some gram crackers! So i gave her some cookies SHE ATE THEM SO QUICKLY!!!! She is underweight, and always has access to food. She will only eat her dog food and gram crackers and thats IT! Nothing else catches her palate. I was wondering if you guys know a recipe that is Similar to Gram Crackers that can also be high in calorie, so that she can gain weight!!! I am in Phoenix, AZ if you know of a good Vet who is truly caring and knowledgable about Seizures please pass that info on to me!!! Thanks everyone I would really appreciate your help

| I have asked Ann, one of our wonderful moderators to see if she can help you as she doesn't live that far from you and could probably give you a name of a good vet...she also has a tiny. I am going to assume that your little one has not been spayed either and so she might have extra teeth (baby teeth) still in her mouth which is a big problem. Have you actually looked at the roof of her mouth? What happens when she has these seizures? what do you do? If she is not eating enough it could be a sugar problem... It could be lots of things but you need to get to a better vet...that is absured your vet won't draw blood... Hopefully, Ann will be along soon..

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hello and welcome . If your vet is struggling for answers, I really would recommend going to a specialist, if you can. This is where I go for my specialists - I'm here in Phoenix (we've seen internist Dr. Janet Bailey, just fyi, for Wylie's Atypical Cushing's and we've been to the Derms): Arizona Veterinary Specialists This is where I go for my general vet care (we see Dr. Bastek, but I also really like Dr. Roe and Dr. Koch): University Vet Please let me know how else I can help .

| Oh boy. This sounds like a liver shunt for sure. Please start doing a google search to prepare yourself for the reality that she probably does have a liver shunt. She should have a Bile Acid Serium test ASAP If this were me, I would change her food asap to a low protein diet for liver compromised dogs. Either Hills l/d wet food OR Royal Canin Hepatic LS 14 dry food. Both from your vet please keep us posted |
