The herbs I got were from Dr. Wen's practice at Hampton Veterinary Hospital. He develops the herbs himself, and he sells them to other veterinarians through his company Natural Solutions, Inc. White Crane Supplements. I know this is OT from the original thread, so I sent you a pm with the information about it. |
timmy Timmy seems to be doing great with his wet food and medicine. :DHe has no diarrhea thank the lord...quite opposite actually he poops only like once a day right now..he does however BURP loudly after each feeding, so it makes me think his throw up problems were related to gas b/c now that hes on wet food he has enough room to burp, but on the dry food he gulped down..he couldnt get that excess air out without throwing up...its just a guess but i think it may be the truth...im excited that he seems completely healthy now, i just want the medicine to be done soon so i can start training him. i did teach him to sit already, and i make him sit before i give him his meals, so that seems to be working very well with my cute little baby:animal36 hes so smart i cant wait to teach him the fun stuff!! I bought a clicker for training, so im gonna try that out. With my pom, Spice, i just trained her my own way..and she is great, but sometimes she just does all the tricks and doesnt LISTEN to what im asking of her..or she gets distracted. So im hoping to train timmy with more control so he can do his tricks for an extended pd of time..Spice knows down, turn/spin, roll over, shake/high five, speak, jump, and I Love you (which is when i say that she barks 3 times back at me as if saying i love you) Not so great with stay..which is where my training for timmy to have more control is hoping to come into play. |
Timmy hit pay dirt when he came to you! :) I am SO happy he is doing better! |
It warms my heart to read what you write about Timmy. I am so glad he is doing better, |

anyone feed their yorkie wet food? timmy has been on eukanuba wet canned food for about 4-5 days now and his poo looks like clay!! and it feels kinda like that too when i clean it up. Its even gray. The vet said that its prob the food, but its still weird. lol today his poo was almost the length of his body!!! it was SO WEIRD. I feel like all i get done lately is cleaning up poop, puke, and pee! He def is a baby thats for sure. he hasnt thrown up while eating the wet food, just burps...but he did throw up a tiny bit of wet food on the floor just now, and its 1:00 and he ate at 6:30 this morning! good news i guess is that it was literally just wet food, no foam or bubbles..and it was just a little bit. It happened after he was playin with a squeaky toy, so i dunno if he got choked or what. Weird to be happy about normal looking vomit huh? lol on another note timmy rules at fetch already:) i like getting him to get up and get excited about something..its adorable:animal36 |
well i gave timmy like MAYBE 10-15 pieces of hard food mixed in with his wet tonite..and he threw up:( it was basically the same as before just a little less slimy, and all colored like the food instead of white. Other than that all was the same. I didnt hear him chewing any of the hard pieces..so im not sure if he just gulped them down or what. I still think it may be caused by excess air he cant get out...cuz no burping this feeding. I think i'll google what ingredient(s) in food cause gas in dogs and see if theres somethin i can do there..i dunno. He seems happy now, playing and what not..its so irritating that there are no symptoms and no reasons found for this problem. and obviously he doesnt have the problem with wet food...so to me that means it HAS to do with the actual pieces of food somehow.. |
Interesting. I would stick with the wet food then. You know...one thought may be that he is allergic to corn. That is often in dry food .. and not in canned. I have not seen that type of allergic reaction, but I think anything is possible? I don't know...kind of a stretch I guess. :p |

bc he's vomiting WATCHHHHHH him if he starts shaking make sure to give him syrup, only like a few drops and then make sure he eats. If he wont eat you most force feed him. take a can of soft dog food put it in a bowl, add water and syrup to bring his sugar level up. feed him at lest 6 table spoons every four hours till he starts eating on his own. or else he'll go in to hypo shock. |

The best thing is NutriDrops or NutriCal....Nutridrops absorbing faster into the system. |
no problems Eating...he just LOVES to eat...its that he eats too fast and throws up on dry food..with wet he eats just as fast but just burps |
timmy's poop is no longer clay like...but now its SO brown its almost Red and its really soft..still all in one piece when it comes out, but this worries me....he's been on the canned food for 6 days and clindamycin for 7 days...but why is his poop changing now?? |
Timmy is now throwing up like a baby randomly. :( he is spitting up like a baby actually, ive seen it 3 times in the last 3 days. Once, just after chewing a toy..which was food, and i assumed that he got choked. Then in the car a tiny bit of white, which i assumed was car sickness (which he has never had so far), then today it was out of nowhere. he was layin down and just got up and spit up. theres no hurling/hacking of any kind that i can tell when he spits up(very little, not like when he throws up from eating). I really dont know if this is another symptom/clue to what his problem can be or what... i feel like he really needs to get on a food that fixes these problems, if there is one..but i feel like im changin his food too much. The internet said grains and by products and what not can cause too much gas in dogs..which are both in his food, so i may try to get something that doesnt have that. Anyone feed science diet or a holistic food or something i can buy at Petsmart that they think will work for this?? Such as Royal Canin for mini yorkshire 28?? i just became aware of this on the petsmart webpage...i dont see grains or by products in ingredient list....anyone know about this food?? |

just got back from buyin royal canin for stomach sensitivity or somethin, and gas pills...and TIMMY threw up in the car on way home..a lot of it. im guessing motion sickness..so lets add that to the list of problems timmy has! I gotta say, im getting REALLY frustrated with this whole situation. Im tryin to keep patient cuz its not his fault, except for the gulping, which is his fault. Im gettin worn out:( I HOPE TO GOD This new food works...if not i may have to call purdue and see if they will look at him. On a good note I LOVE PETSMART! they said they would take the food and pills back if they dont help as long as they arent completely gone..for a full refund or store credit..and the guy said that sensitive systems purina at wal mart (which has a TON left b/c it made him worse) that he would take it back to since they sell it and give me store credit! |

also i didnt know he got carsick cuz ive never had that problem with him before and he doesnt act stressed at all in the car, opposite actually. but now that he has done it twice, i probably will just leave him at home more often. i think it may have to do with being in the stroller or the cart at the store thou, cuz ive never noticed it before until now..after riding in those 2 things.. |
he does BURP everytime he eats wet food..which still makes me think he has problems with gas, that are not gone just cuz hes on wet food..but dont get me wrong..IF we cannot solve this problem any other way...i will find a way to pay for the wet food for my baby..BUT that will be a last resort for me, b/c like i said..expensive, and i think it can be solved with other means somehow..and i DOUBT that the puppy mill breeder fed him wet.. |
Gas, throwing up and all that jazz!! suz Donating Yorkie Yakker A lot of times, when a dog is rescued, they have come from a place that either has too many dogs, or the owners don't really care about them. Your dog might think that when you feed him, it will be the last meal he EVER gets. I think I'd start out feeding him small meals throughout the day. I know it may be a hassle, but if it works, it will be worth it!! Once he figures out that he will get food on a regular basis, he should start to slow down eating. Then you can start backing down on the number of times he gets fed per day. Granted, this way my take quite a while, but he may not know that he doesn't have to gulp his food. Making him wait to eat may only worsen the problem. Good luck with him. Suz __________________ The more people I meet... The more I love my dogs!!! |

ya, once i get him back on kibble successfully..if i can..then i probably will do that..i just always feel so bad cuz he acts like hes starving when its food time. i have tried putting the food in a kong toy, and a brake fast bowl..and once he figured them out..he still gets it out fast and throws up. but i havent let him do that in a long while since i figured out i could control it with smaller portions over 10-15 min or so. i do think ill try that throughout the day thou..it cant hurt, and i really do want him to know ill always feed him! i already sit in bathroom with him while he eats and feed my pom in living room so he doesnt feel competitive. At this point, i will try anything i feel like! lol and i come home for lunch everyday, so i can def add at least one more small meal into his day easily... |

There is nothing to determine ibd in a dog other than signs and scoping and he has not been scoped only barium swallow test which would not determine ibd :( many in this breed have ibd the clinda is a strong antibiotic as mine is on it and it can make them vomit but i am doing 1/2 food clinda then 1/2 food so far so good i just feel bad for him and hope you can get him balanced on a diet - what about a wet food that is not a vet food like newman's own organic as that is high in grains and may work |

i bet he has had this problem for a while and they just did not care :( sadly - I really doubt this happened overnight when you got him. Burping can be from ibd as well as the intestines get inflamed and air gets caught in intestines. This is why it is not good to feed a dog with ibd raw diet as the food gets caught in intestinal tract leading to potential ecoli and salmonella issues Quote:

Thank you for taking him in and loving him so much! When you finally solve this, he is going to be the most devoted pupster ever...I really believe these pups know they have been given a second chance. |
