I hope this all ends up a simple solution. He is such a lucky pupster to have you! :) My wish for all the little homeless pups in the world is that they find homes like yours that love them no matter what! |
so i guess i didnt shut the bathroom door all the way and while i was in the shower timmy managed to get in there, knock the bag of food over and eat god knows how much. when i got downstairs there was three piles of puke on the floor. :( ever since hes just been layin around. maybe this is a good thing? maybe he learned his lesson on eating too much too fast. as long as he starts feeling better soon. hes smart in an annoying way lol hope he really does learn from this! :animal36 |
feeding him bits at a time in his elevated bowl..seems to be ok but i still have to take him away from it sometimes..switching him back to eukanuba and it seems to maybe be helping, too early to tell for sure but he threw up a few times at the end of his meal and he managed to keep it all in his mouth..no mess to clean up and im glad he still has all the food in him for once. also ordered the brake fast bowl and it should be here in a few days so we'll see. Def getting the barium study done hopefully friday to know once and for all what im dealing with with this baby. Cross your paws and fingers for a good diagnosis!:animal-pa |
I will be saying prayers that the test goes well. |

Congratulations....I thought I was getting a puppy but Geemo is like a baby. We got him at 15 weeks old and we also had some problems with vomitting. Geemo (male yorkie) did not seem to like store bought food wet or dry so I started cooking his food. I put chunked carrots and celery and extra lean ground beef nothing else. I remove the celery and carrots and skim off all the fat. I let it keep cooking until there is no water left. I make a batch of Quaker large flake oatmeal plain just water and oats. I put the beef in one container and the oats in another container and at meal time which is 2 times per day I give him 2 tablespoons of the beef and 1 1/2 tablespoons of oatmeal and I add some water and mix it up so its a bit soupy. Geemo is over 2 yrs old now and no vomitting at all. I give little bits of apple or banana, raw carrot, cantaloupe now an then. He now gets 4 very large dried kibble bits which is for his teeth. I hope you can get the vomitting problem solved. Just sharing my experience with home cooking works for my little guy and it is plain plain plain. |
Timmy is officially back on Eukanuba and it seems to be helping MASSIVELY. I'm sure he still has some issue, but no throw up for 2 days now! :D and he's eating his whole 1/8 cup in about ten minutes now with NO PROBLEMS. I am also working with him on the wait command while im giving him food so that may be helping also with the gulping. My brake fast bowl should be here this week, but i did stumble onto something helpful. He has a sticky mouth, so i rinsed his bowl out with hot water before his meal the other day and didnt dry it. It seemed to slow him down A TON! theres no actual water in the bowl but, mixed with his slimy spit, it makes the food a lot harder for him to get into his mouth for some reason, again helping with the gulping. I also have taught him to sit, using Euk. as his treat and he has it down pat already! He sometimes tries to get away with not even gettin up to begin with b/c he knows i want him to sit for the treat. lol I LOVE MY SMART YORKIE!:animal36 |
What wonderful news!!!! I am SO happy he is doing so well! He sounds like a charmer for sure! :) |
Great news no vomitting for 2 days! It is difficult for you and Timmy because of his background which does not sound like he was taken care of....he is very lucky to have you. All the best! |
so glad and i am sure his stress level is down as well so maybe the intestines have also calmed down a bit |
I have reared puppies with a megaesophagus problem it can be serious in small pup's as they can starve to death,I get puppies refered to me with this problem they need a diet high in calories,I normally feed little and often and the food has to be of a baby food consistancy. I feed butcher's meat loaf mushed up to a pulp and add baby rice and water,A dog with this problem can live a normal life if you can get the balance right,But if they get say a bit of solid food like say kibble they will bring it back up more or less straight away and then try and eat it again,In some dog's the throat swell's like a pelican pouch, And the gland's in the neck also swell and feel hard/ I have a 3 year old chinese cresyed i took in at 6 week's old i managed to stabalise him and he now live's with a neighbour over the road and doing fantastic,Other's have not been so lucky and i have had to make the decision to put to sleep. I hope your baby make's a full recovery from what is ailing him. |
no throw up for 5 days! :Dhowever, the vet called and canceled are apt for tomorrow:( apparently they dont have the stuff in that they need for the barium or teeth cleaning or something. SO i guess its another week...all is well so far so we'll see! I still want to know once and for all if theres something i need to know about him, but like i said 5 days vomit free is fantastic! |
So much for 5 days vomit free:( He threw up during dinner. It is my fault b/c we got his brake fast bowl in mail today, so i gave him a bit more for his first serving than i usually do. The bowl did seem to slow him down a bit but still he threw up. I'm actually quite annoyed that the vet canceled. I dont know if i can wait another week for a day off to take him there and FIND OUT ONCE AND FOR ALL! i need to know what im dealing with. On the plus side there was no food in his vomit so at least he will still be full and get his nutrients. What kills me is that the xray we had done showed a lot of gas in his stomach, and he burps every time he eats now! I've never heard a dog burp before...i wonder if that gas is why he throws up...? if so is there some kind of gas medicine for dogs lol |

I have used yogurt, but he may have issues with it. Perhaps try probiotics? |

there was a girl on here that used some baby gas pills not sure of the thread but do a search and see if you can find it and ask vet as they worked great for her dog |
My yorkie is almost 17, and she is getting too much air into her stomach. Her doctor recommended that we try giving her 1/4 tablet of gas-x. Since it is easier to give her liquid medicines, I got baby gas-x, and I am giving her the dosage for a baby that is on the bottle. We started giving it to her 2 weeks ago, and it seems to have helped her. I really hope things get better for you and Timmy. |
Just a thought-:aimeeyorkwe use 1/4 tab of the Gas-X mint flavor tabs per vet recommendation. Our little girl loves them and thinks they are treats. |

TIMMY HAS WORMS!!! i am so grossed out! they supposedly dewormed him at shelter..and i dewormed him a week after i got him b/c the shelter thought some of the dogs there had whipworm...that was 2-3 wks ago and i saw worms in his poo for the first time this morning! EWW! I also started him on Interceptor Feb 20th, which protects and controls some worms. Spice has no signs of them in her poo, but she has been on interceptor for 2-3 yrs now, so she should be good theoretically. On the plus side, the vet said this could be the reason timmy throws up when he eats...so deworming may solve that problem:) but i am BEYOND grossed out..i take care of my dogs and i dont like the idea that one of them has any kind of parasite.:( |
This is fixable! He will not have them for long and maybe he will be cured! :) I know they are gross, but, if he were mine, I would rather he have them than a lot of other things I can think of. I hope this is the FIX! :) |

Took the stool samples in and the vet couldnt find a thing! He said he didnt see any worms or any eggs at all in either spice or timmy's poo. I think thats weird b/c i saw moving worms in timmy's yesterday morning. I guess it doesnt matter he gave me the pill for it anyway and timmy ate it this morning with his food. They said it should cure it all up w/o any followup wormings...so i hope thats true. But i may buy an over the counter one in a month anyway. After its gone we should be fine b/c he'll be on interceptor. Hope we get those nasty things out of him once and for all! and solve this throw up problem at the same time would be AWESOME! |
It was probably tapeworms....they are often not detected. Did he give you Drontal? If so, that will fix it! They get them from ingesting fleas. |
