so just gave him about 1/8 cup like vet said..i put in flat bottom bowl with the kong toy still in it so he shouldnt have been able to eat too fast and he still threw up b4 finishing it. first time was small amt with mostly food in it, second time little more with just the white goo.:( i kinda count that as only one throw up cuz he didnt eat in between the 2 i think he just wasnt done. there wasnt much food in it so i know he got his food. id say it was ALMOST the whole meal be4 he stoped to puke. after he threw up i fed him 5 pieces at a time by hand every 30 seconds and he was fine! what the heck:confused: he only had 15 pieces left after the stop for throw up but still. NO VISIBLE PROBLEMS AT ALL WHEN I HAND FEED HIM. and now hes happy and playing a bit. |

Aww dwerten.. Nothing to be afraid of here.. You can find wonderful home cooked diets for these dogs in Book stores and possibly on the internet.. I Hope you give it a try. There are natural oils etc you can use to protect your allergy dog from the environment as well. :) |
my best advice would be to change the food over to a natural or raw diet. raw is the best thing i've ever done for Sadie. we went from home made raw to Nature's Variety Raw. we use all different meats for her and she's gained weight and had no more stomach troubles. |

Rather than hand feed, you may want to try one tsp. at a time like moms do with their toddlers.. Small amts and count to ten in between each spoon full. Let him digest each spoonful before giving another. Yes, it takes time but IMO it sounds like it's what your pooch may need right now. Most Important: Make sure this dog stays hydrated. If he won't drink water on his own, Use eyedroppers to keep liquid in him. I did this many a time with mine. I'm happy he's playing a bit -- Yeah :) Time for me to Go, I will chat with you another day.. Take care for now. |

Sounds to me like he is enjoying being hand fed. :D I don't know that putting the kong in there will really help...a bowl with partitions I think would slow him down more. |

Find A Store | Nature's Variety That's where u can get it in your area. And the website has all the details of NV. If you want more info on raw diets or natural diets look on YT here in the health and diet section. good luck this was the best choice for us. hope it works for you should you use it. |

In Corki's home made diet which contained many things, one of them was Cold Pressed FLAX SEED oil.. which needs refrigeration. I'm not sure if your referring to skin allergies or food allergies.. If it's food, I am convinced that a Home made diet made up by a Holistic Vet works the best. Or as another poster said.. RAW DIET. ^5 When my dog became a bit tense during flights or stressful situations.. I would spray Organic Aromatherapy LAVENDER around her.. This scent calms them down. IMO what works for us humans, most times works for a pet. Hope I've helped you girl :) |

Oh my, You do have a tuff case. :( Q. Is there a test out there that will reveal what her environmental allergies are, i.e., pollen, grasses, etc etc.???? DARN! I'm Wondering if there is a Vet who specializes in this type of problem. I agree you'll never have her 100 percent free of environmental issues but hopefully you can find something that will give her some stable relief. There has to be a way she can build up immunity to these villans. |

Bless your Yorki Heart for all that your doing with this dog.. He is lucky to have you as his owner (((hugs))) So much for AKC huh.. Sometimes i think the mutts are more healthy than the purebreds! |
gave timmy a 1/16 cup of food this morning in an elevated dish (put on top a shoe box lol) and it seemed to work. he did stop and lick his lips like he was going to throw up but he didnt:) then i gave him another 1/16 after about 10 min or so and he took pieces out slower to eat them and he was fine. he did stop to bat at his face. it looked like he was trying to get something out of his tooth so i cant wait to get his teeth cleaned and looked at! other than that he burped and was happy:):D we'll see if it continues to work but he is getting adjusted so well every day is something more adorable...he jumps SO HIGH its crazy. he is fun to play with my pom spice, but he also likes to cuddle with mommy:) hes my little ragdoll. |

just fed him again...he GULPS his food down and threw up 3 times:( after that i raised the bowl even more and what he does is stick his head in the bowl and doesnt take it out til the food is gone. i had to keep pulling him down so he couldnt go on. It was very frustrating that he just WONT stop gulping. my next step is definitely the brake fast bowl or some sort of bowl with sections. itd be great if i could find one that comes in an elevator thing....if it really does slow him down i will be so happy for such an easy solution:) im almost totally convinced that this is his problem |

well just fed timmy from the kong toy again. by now hes figured it out and can get the whole 1/16 cup out in 5 min flat. he ate the first 1/16 no prob. the second part of his meal about 5-10 min later was less than 1/16 cup and he threw up twice after:( im thinking about switching him back to eukanuba cuz i dont remember this happening the first few days that we got him and thats what he was eating. maybe he is just eating too fast but i definitely seems like it has gotten worse with the sensitive systems food. maybe the smaller pieces actually make it worse and easier to gulp? I will probably call the vet back and ask again what he thinks b/c this seems so abnormal to me. a dog should be able to eat when he wants and not throw up..i have been keeping a log of everytime he eats and how much and notes that i had since friday night, so hopefully that may help with something..i dont see much pattern anymore though cuz sometimes he does it and sometimes not. but always still following the food |
It is great that you are keeping a log. I hope the vet can come up with something. |
So the vet called to check on timmy and i explained the newest developments. He thinks the most likely thing is he\'s just eating too fast or he has megaesophagus...lets hope for the first scenario. either way we have a big vet visit coming up soon cuz hes gonna get his teeth cleaned and get a barium study done to see whats going on inside him. If it shows a blockage they\'ll just go in and take it out. If not it will tell us if his esophagus is enlarged or not. I am changing him slowly back to eukanuba cuz this food obviously made nothing better...maybe made it worse even. and this way he will be able to eat the same food as spice and maybe he will get the point if i leave the dish down all day that he doenst have to GULP it up so fast. Vet did say that since he gulps his water also that he most likely competed for food at the place before. FINGERS CROSSED FOR GOOD NEWS! won\'t go to vet for at least another week so wont have any news til after... Timmy is my baby boy and he\'s ridiculously lovable. :animal36 now that hes in the family, problems and all...hes part of my heart! |
