so just gave him about 1/8 cup like vet said..i put in flat bottom bowl with the kong toy still in it so he shouldnt have been able to eat too fast and he still threw up b4 finishing it. first time was small amt with mostly food in it, second time little more with just the white goo.:( i kinda count that as only one throw up cuz he didnt eat in between the 2 i think he just wasnt done. there wasnt much food in it so i know he got his food. id say it was ALMOST the whole meal be4 he stoped to puke. after he threw up i fed him 5 pieces at a time by hand every 30 seconds and he was fine! what the heck:confused: he only had 15 pieces left after the stop for throw up but still. NO VISIBLE PROBLEMS AT ALL WHEN I HAND FEED HIM. and now hes happy and playing a bit.

Aww dwerten.. Nothing to be afraid of here.. You can find wonderful home cooked diets for these dogs in Book stores and possibly on the internet.. I Hope you give it a try. There are natural oils etc you can use to protect your allergy dog from the environment as well. :)

my best advice would be to change the food over to a natural or raw diet. raw is the best thing i've ever done for Sadie. we went from home made raw to Nature's Variety Raw. we use all different meats for her and she's gained weight and had no more stomach troubles.

what is nature's variety raw and where do you get it?

Do what works for you Seschna and good luck..

Rather than hand feed, you may want to try one tsp. at a time like moms do with their toddlers.. Small amts and count to ten in between each spoon full. Let him digest each spoonful before giving another. Yes, it takes time but IMO it sounds like it's what your pooch may need right now. Most Important: Make sure this dog stays hydrated. If he won't drink water on his own, Use eyedroppers to keep liquid in him. I did this many a time with mine. I'm happy he's playing a bit -- Yeah :)

girl i have tried just about everything holistic, modern, dermatology only did not do desensitization or home cook other than the elimination diet so what oils are you referring to as always wanting to learn about allergies?

Sounds to me like he is enjoying being hand fed. :D

I don't know that putting the kong in there will really help...a bowl with partitions I think would slow him down more.

ya thats prob my next step..or gettng him an elevated dish. when he bends down to eat he doesnt bring his head out of it til he gets done and gets sick. he definitely needs to calm himself and take a break between pieces

Just elevate the one he is using now! Get a stack of books or something to put the bowl on. You might have to find a way to anchor it so that he does not knock it over. At least that way you can tell if it works before you go out and buy one.

ya i think thats what im gonna do..at least to try it. i think it will slow him down quite a bit if he has to actively try to get it out each time. maybe ill try that in the morning meal with just 1/16 a cup or so at first then see

In Corki's home made diet which contained many things, one of them was Cold Pressed FLAX SEED oil.. which needs refrigeration. I'm not sure if your referring to skin allergies or food allergies.. If it's food, I am convinced that a Home made diet made up by a Holistic Vet works the best. Or as another poster said.. RAW DIET. ^5

When my dog became a bit tense during flights or stressful situations.. I would spray Organic Aromatherapy LAVENDER around her.. This scent calms them down. IMO what works for us humans, most times works for a pet. Hope I've helped you girl :)

did raw for six months, did food elimination diet of pinto beans and potato as she had too many proteins before we did this diet and she is allergic to flaxseed oil :( i have a real tough case unfortunaley and 90% of the time it is environmental and 10% food so she is more environmental but still keep her on a limited ingredient diet - feel so bad for her but we have her semi managed i don't think you ever have an allergy dog 100% managed as just when you think you do something else spins out of control :(

Oh my, You do have a tuff case. :( Q. Is there a test out there that will reveal what her environmental allergies are, i.e., pollen, grasses, etc etc.???? DARN! I'm Wondering if there is a Vet who specializes in this type of problem.

I agree you'll never have her 100 percent free of environmental issues but hopefully you can find something that will give her some stable relief.
There has to be a way she can build up immunity to these villans.

had two allergy tests done from two separate labs biomedical and spectrum labs both state highly environmentally allergic. Yeah we are going to dermatologist now :( she is also hypothyroid so basically a very poor immune system - very sad - she is akc inbred
