usually ibd will not show up on anything other than possible elevated amylase and lipase since close to pancreas for small intestines. I still think ibd - my dd and dex woof their food down in seconds and never vomit ever

i asked vet about ibd when i went and he didnt think that was it b/ his poo is normal. good news is that ive been hand feeding him 5 pieces at a time bout every 10 min and no throw up. :) and im keeping a log of what time and how much so if he starts again as it increases maybe i can show the vet that as well. i really do think its the eating too fast. i may get the brake fast bowl. i was just worried it was too big to do good for such a tiny dog, but since someone said they like it for their yorkie, maybe ill give it a try:)

ibd in small intestines in vomitting and ibd in large intestines is diarrhea so would think the vet would hopefully know the difference of those two things as my dog with ibd has NEVER had diarhea he only vomits. I hope it is just eating too fast though and glad he is doing better

i have to take both him and my pom in for stool sample checks at the end of the month/beg of march...so i may ask about ibd again just in case. hes doing fine so far with just eating slower, but if ibd is common i would like him to be checked for it anyway if possible..

ok ill be sure to ask about ibd of small intestine, cuz i don't think i said that when i asked...thanx:)

there is no test for it but scoping him it is just trying to find the right food so hoping it is eating too fast instead of diet but the fact that he did it more on new food and on old food less not sure it is a eating fast thing but

ya ill still ask about it..but like i said no prblems so far since i started hand feeding..and his poop is getting harder and more normal (was a bit softer than i'd like when i switched to the salmon food)..so it may have been partially eating too fast and partially just nerves or adjustment from being in a new place with a new dog companion.

I said this earlier but maybe you didn't catch it but if this dog came from a breeder it might be every dog for himself when it comes to eating so that is why your little one is eating way to fast.

Don't get caught up in all these diseases until things start settling down. This is a new dog and he could be reacting to a new situation and is scared the food will go away...etc.

I am glad to hear things are starting to smooth out.

thanks. i hope its no disease or anything. but ya i think he's settling in much better now. its only been a little over 2 weeks. hopefully he will realize soon that i will always be there to feed him so he doesnt have to compete for food. he also drinks water really fast so i bet thats it. HOPE HOPE HOPE..on another note he LOVED his first trip to petsmart today!

Sounds like he ended up in a wonderful home!! Bless you for being so patient and loving with him. He will end up being the most perfect pet ever! They DO know when someone has saved them.

could be and the salmon is probably too rich

if he thinks he is competing for food then that could be your prob feed him separately. Mine all eat separately as they eat different diets and if they get food together they eat much faster so the others do not get it so that could be your prob then coming from a rescue situation where maybe food was limited

definitely agree especially if competing for food with another dog in the home so time will tell as he settles in

i bumped it up to 10 pieces at a time by hand and he seems fine still. a bit of a burbling sound for a sec but none of his normal signs that he was going to throw up. :) so happy. supposed to increase it to about 1/8 cup at once by tonights dinner meal..so we'll see. gotta say thou giving him 10 pieces at a time is making it go SO much faster. the first nite it took me 2 hours just to get a 1/8 cup in him 5 pieces at a time ever 10 min lol Movin right along!! :)
