thanx:) im really trying...he is SO cute and such a good little boy..he deserves to have this solved. i have started feeding him a small meal on my lunch also (part of his usual breakfast portion)..and i think ill keep up with that, so maybe he will learn that food will always be close by eventually and stop gulping. if not, and he DOES have ibd (god forbid) then i guess the xtra meal time will help out too.

i doubt it is a home allergy as i have dealt with allergies for almost 6 years now and this is not something allergy dogs do from environmental allergies now food intolerance yes and ibd dogs do better on grains than white potato foods - i have not heard that grains cause gas in dogs and i read alot on this stuff as my dog has ibd but he is not on grains - he is on a hydrolized soy diet that has worked for 4 years but it is dry only - soy is a highly digestible protein as is fish and why liver disease dogs do well on it as well

Corn absolutely does cause gas in dogs! Now, I don't know about immediate gas that causes vomiting, but anything is possible.

Here...not sure of this resource....it is just something I googled quickly as I don't have time now to stay online....but it does talk about grains and gas which I already know is a fact.

ya i didnt think it was a home allergy either..so thanx for agreeing with me:) at least i dont have to worry about that for now with some confirmation that it doesnt make much sense. That just leaves my food theory. i can include an ingredient list of the new food i bought if you wanna see:confused: i dunno cuz hes not ON the new RC yet officially so it wont tell you if it causes anything obviously, just if its good new one. The throwing up like a baby randomly is getting irritating now, b/c it looks different every time, but always tiny bit. Like i said, never did it before wet food, so i hope to god it stops if i can get him off of it..cuz theres no warning that he's going to do it at all..and he will do it ANYWHERE in a second.
On the same note..he spit up a tiny bit about 1-2 after having his interceptor today...Will he still get the effects of it?? like i said tiny bit, but still...

i do not give interceptor as we do not have a heart worm issue here but maybe others can comment or vet as i personally would not want to give another pill

that is wild as demi is on newman's own organic a high grain diet and has been for years and never burps or has gas so that is odd but then she is very healthy so may be why

possibly adding fiber like pumpkin to diet might help as i know dh is big on using fiber every night he takes metamucel to keep things moving and he will kill me for saying this lol so shhhhh but he never has gassy issues and he feels it is because he does this religiously every evening. Just thought of this as it may push the food through better to not allow air to build up in intestines. I use organic pumpkin daily with dd and i mix in her probiotics in it and works really well as she is not having any diarrhea anymore

As for the Interceptor...if you did not see it, I am sure it was dissolved and all is fine! :) You could call the vet on Monday to double check.

ya he threw up during dinner tonite as well:( i dont know how much more of this i can take. i know the new food has to be introduced gradually and may take up to a month to see results but i dont wanna watch him throw up anymore! im getting depressed about this..i love him so much, as he is SUCH a good dog and seems so happy with us. I want an answer. I already spent all my money doing the previous tests that proved nothing..and i have a feeling taking him to purdue would cost a ton, but if im going to get a second opinion, i want it to be the best. Purdue University has a veterinary diagnostics department, so that seems to me to be MAYBE the only option left. I dont know what else to do..i am sick of trying diff foods and feeding methods..i want to KNOW what he has that is causing this so i can treat it properly...and if that is feeding slower, so be it..but i want to KNOW what his condition is..i cant take it anymore:( i hate things with no answers..so i refuse to admit that there isnt one!

Maybe you can ask your vet to do a consult with Purdue? Sometimes they can do that without actually going there. They could send the records and have them reviewed.

My vet and her partners do that with a group of specialists in this area....they meet once/month and all of the vets get together and discuss cases. Sometimes they are able to manage the pups without having to send them to the specialist. It works out really well...our vets learn more and it also saves the clients money.

My vet has also placed calls to Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic and discussed cases with them.

Maybe Purdue would be able to suggest another avenue for your vet and for you ... many times large universities see a lot of things that smaller vets do not see.

i agree! i just used the email addresses to 2 vets in lafayette and the purdue vet diagnostics dept and emailed them everything i could think of that they may need to know, asking for a second opinion. i'm sure they wont all answer, but hopefully at least ONE will answer my email. If they dont answer in a few days i probably will call my vet about doing a consult with purdue.

yeah i am like you i want answers and why this allergy situation with my dd drives me crazy as there is no real cure just trying to keep her comfortable and it stinks so i know how you feel. Honestly at this point you may have to have him scoped :( How long has this been going on for? I would call vet and discuss on monday - have you been writing everything down and logging when he vomits etc if so i would fax that all to vet and see if he can discuss with internal medicine specialist. When dex was off and on vomitting and we were trying to figure it all out the ims told me i had two options scope him or put him on purina ha as last food to try so i went with food and thank goodness it worked - had it not worked i would have had to scope him to confirm ibd before they would treat him with medication like steroids but due to his pancreatitis i was very scared to do prednisone as that can trigger pancreatitis as well so i had a very touchy situation and had spent 10k over a year getting him treated off and on for vomitting and pancreatitis so she said this is most likely ibd but unless he is scoped we cannot give a firm diagnosis but she believed this was what was going on. It is true dex held the food down a bit before he vomitted it up BUT with colitis my dee dee vomitted the food immediately up after eating and they can have stress colitis in small intestines. Remeber the more frustrated you get the more it stresses him out and believe me it is really hard not to get stressed when they are sick i totally understand that.

i stopped doing the log after i took him to the vet for the barium. i have a feeling my vet didnt even look at it, but i dunno. i have read about gas and bloat as well..:( i def need an answer..i may have to do the scope thing if i need to..i just want to know the answer. we have no idea if he was doing this at the breeders house, so it couldve been going on for 3 yrs! i asked the shelter and they said they saw him puke once after drinking water fast..which i have never seen from him, so i dunno

timmy did well with dinner tonite:) i am trying to get him to stop gulping...i make him sit first, then give him some..then if he is gulping too much i take it away from him for a min, then hold the bowl down to him and feed him that way..if he takes his head out of the bowl to chew, i praise him and wait til he sits down to give him more. Then i waited til he burped, then gave him about 15 pieces of kibble, doing the same thing with the bowl (me holding it down to him and only letting him get one or 2 pieces at a time) he did fine:) then he got his last serving of wet food..same way..and then burped at end of meal. I'd say this was a good feeding
