I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Thanks for the update, I'm not sure how old Little Rio is, but that first year, it seems like they will eat all kinds of strange things, and often can get intestinal problems. We had to take Joey in for extreme vomiting once, and never did find out what caused it; the doctor thought maybe he ate a spider. I hope Little Rio recovers soon, and I'm so glad you were able to get him the help he needed, for some reason Joey only gets sick "after hours", but since a yorkie is so small, what might not harm a larger dog, can really affect a yorkie. Best of luck!

| Poor little baby! And kudos to you for taking her to vet. I know those vet visits and emergency runs can drain your pocket. I'm glad to hear that you were at least able to identify the problem in order to fix it. Hope she has a speedy and happy recovery!

| Yes @Nancy1999 - why can't our babies get sick during the more affordable vet hours!! Rio is 11 months old, and this was her 4th visit to the emergency vet clinic (the other 3 times were for a bee sting on her paw, a scrape on her leg, and another bout of vomiting when she was much younger). My vet actually said it is common for frequent visits for the first year of puppyhood, and maybe into the second year. My pocketbook was not happy to hear that! |

| Well, Rio ended up vomiting again at 4 am and having dry heaves/vomiting bile at 6am. So off we went to the vet AGAIN. Since her diarrhea has stopped (although I don't know if it only stopped because there is nothing inside her to come out!), they focused on her nausea and dehydration. She got subcutaneous fluids and an IV shot of reglan. Sent us home with liquid reglan and liquid antibiotic metronidazole. The ER vet recommended to stop the rice and chicken breast and give baby rice cereal with chicken baby food 1 tsp at a time. She said it will be even easier for her to digest until her tummy gets better. Have any of you tried this combo of baby rice cereal and chicken baby food? |

| Oh my, poor little Rio I hope things get better for her soon. I don't know anything about the cereal and baby food, but I really hope it is easier on her tummy. My prayers are with you and Rio. Hugs.

| Well, Rio hasn't vomited for 11 hours which is good progress! She's been eating the baby rice cereal and chicken mixture a teaspoon at a time and so far so good. But she hasn't had a poop all day - I'm not too worried as yesterday her poops were solid after her Barium test series (although the poop came out white which is normal). I'm thinking she's not pooping because she only recently has been able to keep food down? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Hopefully she is getting better!! The medicine's are probably causing her not to poop.

| Little Rio...we need to get you better sweetie! Lia did the baby rice thing too but I had mixed it with strained peas and carrots at first to get he start eating. She love carrots! I swear she is a vegiterian sometimes! If rio is not willingly taking in fluids you can try watered down beef broth or nutrical with a medicine dropper every 15 minutes to keep her hydrated. Fell better sweetie!
