She got subcutaneous fluids and an IV shot of reglan. Sent us home with liquid reglan and liquid antibiotic metronidazole.
The ER vet recommended to stop the rice and chicken breast and give baby rice cereal with chicken baby food 1 tsp at a time. She said it will be even easier for her to digest until her tummy gets better. Have any of you tried this combo of baby rice cereal and chicken baby food? |
yes.. this works really well.. you do mix with water... if you need to add a bit of something for low blood sugar, you can add some karo syrup or Dyne (high calorie food supplement) .. if she isn't eating it on her own, watering it down a bit or adding the Karo (not alot!) and using a syringe will get it in.. she needs to maintain her blood sugar levels, especially if still vomiting. The metronidazole is for diarrhea. Make sure she gets a little bit of food, every hour.. also water (warm), even if you need to use the syringe. If you warm up a towel in the micro wave (slightly), and wrap her in it so she is toasty while you feed.. she may eat better for you.. Good Luck
