| Sore Stomach, Whimpering Noises Our 1 year old yorkie's stomach is sore to the touch and he's making these whimpering/labored noises when he is just standing still, sitting on our laps, and when we touch his stomach. (Hard to describe the noises, but it's like this: urm, urm.). He's not making the noises continuously though, every once in a while... He swallowed the end of his bully stick 2 days ago and we're worried that this might be bothering his stomach. Maybe even stuck there or something. But he's still eating fine (maybe a little less than normal) and he's pooping fine. And he has the same energy level as before, playing and hanging out. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be going on? Has anyone had a dog swallow the end of his bully stick before? |

| If he were mine, I'd be on my way to the vets. Swallowing any kind of chew thing is not good and can cause major issues in the gut, pup should be closely monitored until resolved, sometimes surgical intervention may be necessary. Good Luck...

| Strongly second the opinion of getting to the vet ASAP. Something is definitely wrong. Yorkies are so small that problems become deadly if not taken care immediately. Let us know. ~Joanne~

| I, too, would be heading to the vets. Sore to the touch is NOT normal and if he is wimpering he is definitely in pain.

| Thanks for your replies. He went poo after I posted and he stopped whimpering so much after going. We're testing by touching him in the stomach every once in a while and he's not whimpering at our touch anymore. He's making the "urhp" noise when he's biting at and playing with his little toy every once in a while. So instead of just his normal growl while biting/playing, he's saying "urhp" and "grrrr." In the meantime, I am looking for a vet. But it's proving to be difficult because they're all closed on Sundays. (We just moved into a new city so we had to leave our regular vet behind.) Are there any other signs that I should be watching out for? He's playing really well, drinking, eating, peeing and pooing... Also, when the bully stick goes in, does his stomach acids break it down to small enough sizes for it to pass? Thanks again. |
