| First Aid Kit? I have realized the importance of having my (dog) First Aid Kit. Please excuse my ignorance...... I'm learning FAST but........ I have read the posts for things that should be included in a First Aid Kit. But I will be the first to admit that most of this stuff, I would have no idea what it is used for. Do I need to just put together a kit with all these items and hope that I NEVER have to use it? I would never self diagnose so I wouldn't give anything without professional advise but I certainly don't want to need something and not have it on hand. Do you keep all these items in your first aid kit? Thanks for your advise, it is greatly appreciated!!

| I have to admit I'm a first aid kit freak! I've had one and keep refreshing my supplies since high school. But... it's a human first aid kit. I never thought I would need a separate doggie first aid kit for Kaji. Thanks for the reminder!

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Dog First Aid First aid for dogs, just like first aid for humans, is an effective combination of knowledge, supplies and skills, put into action for the benefit of your four-legged friend. I have a First Aid Kit with all kinds of things in it. I look at it as insurance. You just never know when you might need it.

| Making a First Aid Kit for Your Dog http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...g-dosages.html This should be printed out and kept in your first aid kit, too: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...uture-use.html This is a good guide to using over the counter medications: OTC Medications I also keep a copy of shot records and any recent bloodwork in my first aid kit. If you have to go the emergency clinic, they will not have any records on your dog.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | If your companion is an active dog, a fully stocked, quality, dog first aid kit could be the difference between life and death health and permanent disability, or a pain-free life and ongoing suffering. A first aid kit for a dog or other pet has many of the same supplies and tools as a kit for humans, such as scissors, gauze and an antiseptic for cleansing wounds. There are some important differences, however, particularly pain medications. Many medications developed for human use are dangerous, even fatal, to pets. You need to ensure that your first aid kit has pain medications developed for your pet. These is a list of supplies on this website page Dog First Aid Supplies To Build Your Own Kit

| thank you! thank you for this information. I have always had our "human" first aid kit, but am certainly putting together our "pet" first aid kit. I appreciate this information VERY much! And will certainly include the records as you suggested. Thanks from both Cissy and I!

| I cannot tell you how important all of this information is! It has saved my pups several times! I also have the numbers of the regular vet and ER vet posted several places in the house. I have been known to panic and forget where things are.
