| Thank you for your info. My baby was valuable to me. I am doing this because it will bring closure to me. Weather nothing comes out of it the fact of the matter is the vet will pay closer attention to his work and notify his clients of the risk which I never knew. He told me my dog would be fine and she was healthy just by looking at her.

But Im pretty postive the "RISKS" were listed on the paperwork YOU signed.. he may not of come right out and said it, but it was written on something.. Ive been to several different vets offices (untill I found one I loved) and Ive have several animals fixed and not one time did I put any of my dogs under without signing a risk form and they all offered preop blood work.. its routine Im pretty positve everywhere.. they do it to cover themselves from people that feel the need to sue for something they wanted done.. ... I am truly sorry for the loss of your Lexie, she was beautiful and very loved.. Good luck!!

| Hi Leesha, I'm sorry you are facing such a difficult time with Lexie's passing. I mentioned before that when Breese had reconstruction surgery for birth defects, the specialist recommended she not be spayed because of the difficult time with the surgery. If she reaches 5 pounds then maybe but special testing will be required. Breese has not gain any weight and is still 3.7 pounds. She won't be getting any surgery unless it's an emergency. Plumeria is right about obtaining all information about Lexie from the vet but just let them know it's just for you to have closure for yourself. Most vets will release but if they think something is coming they will find a reason to with hold records. I'll keep you and Lexie in my prayers, that you can find some peace with what you are dealing with at this time. |

| I will be getting all the necessary paper work. That all I will say for now. Lexie will guide me the way she has been since she died & trust me on this one... things will change soon. Thanks for all the thoughts once again my friends who understand. NO one including those who 'think' they know everything will ever understand. There are way more details to all this including testimony from other vet. Like I said everything happens for a reason & only good can come out of it from here on in. This will be a lesson for many & some will learn from my grief. I don't wish this on anyone including the people who disagree with what I believe in. Quote:

| Just because you sign a consent form for surgery, it does not mean you cannot sue if a doctor or vet was negligent. No one on YT would know for a fact that this vet was or was not negligent. The point is that Lexi is gone and her mom is grieving and working through it all in her own way. I cannot imagine going through that...I have never lost one during surgery. Terribly heartbreaking story.

I had never heard of this until YT. I read some threads and posts here and found out about pre-op bloodwork and pain medication!! Neither of which my vet does!!! I ran from there and found a vet I trust and appears to take the necessary precautions. I'm not sure of her reasoning but I have had several animal spayed in her office and never was told about bloodwork. ~Amanda | |

| Pre-op bloodwork is not routine in my area, either. Unless one knows about in advance and asks for it, they're really putting all their trust in the vet's hands. To the OP, states have boards of veterinary medicine that will review complaints about vets. You can check with your state to see about the process (just google 'board of veterinary medicine', specifying your state, and you should get something. Also, if your vet is a member of AAHA, you can contact them as there is a procedure for complaints about member vets.
