| Metronidazole Liquid and Cernia? As some of you may have read yesterday Milo was at the Vet because he was vomiting, and had a fever. Well his blood came back perfect today so the Vet is going to treat it as a stomach bug. She gave us Metroniidazole liquid .07 2 times a day for 14 days (he has taken this before and does well with it) and Cerenia once a day 1/2 a pill at night for 4 days. Does anyone no how long to wait after giving him the metro I hsould wait to give him the Cernia? |

| Does he also have diarrhea? The cernia is for vomiting (primarily motion sickness). CERENIA has been given with many other commonly used medicines. But before treating your dog with CERENIA, be sure your veterinarian is aware of all medicines your dog is receiving.

| NOpe no diarrhea, he was just vomiting yesterday and the vet prescribed both drugs. What happened was he vomited around 6 times, and I decided I would just watch him for a bit he threw up 2 more times I called the vet, she told me to bring him right in. He had a fever and it was obvious something was wrong but since it was friday she wanted to take blood so she would have the results in the morning today and treat him for the proper thing. She gave him a shot of anti nausea meds and penn. He did vomit a few more times last night but nothing since around 9pm yesterday. Blood work came back fine so she had me pic up the metro and the cerenia this morning. He ate nothing yesterday and today he has had boiled chicken and I had just hid the cerenia in some cheese. He still seems off but she told me I should see significant improvement by tomorrow and if not I need to bring him back on Monday. Quote:

| Do not feed your dog for 1 hour before giving CERENIA. Do not wrap the tablets tightly in fatty food such as cheese or meat, since this may keep the tablets from dissolving and delay the effect of CERENIA.

I know with cerenia for motion sickness it is on empty stomach 2 hrs before getting in car - i Just went and read the box and it says dog must be fasted 1 hr before administering cerenia and i know when my girl takes soloxine it is 1 hr before food two hrs after so i would imagine 2 hr after cerenia you could feed and do 1/2 food then metronidazole then the other 1/2 food but confirm with vet. | |

| Thank you all so much for the responses, and yes it is a half a pill he s getting at night, and Oh no I put it in cheese last night do you think it is ok to put it in a piece of chicken even though it says empty stomach. Milo will NOT take a pill unless I hide it. Oh and I had my old pup back this morning when we woke up. He was waiting by his food bowl wagging his tail and giving lots of kisses. We went for a long walk this morning and he pooped and peed. So nice to have him back, I can't stand it when he is sick. It breaks my heart. |

| We just went through this on Saturday. There was vomiting no diarrhea. Guinness got cerenia by injection and fluids by IV. The following are his dietry instruction from the vet after fasting for 36 hours. Please keep in mind that Guinness is 12.5 pounds and may be getting a bigger portion of food. First day- 1/2 cup, equal parts of finely mince chicken and cooked rice. Twice a day. Second day- up to 3/4 cup (same bland mixture). Twice a day. Third day- 1 cup, 1/2 regular food and 1/2 bland. Twice daily. Fourth day- 1 cup, 3/4 regular and 1/4 bland. Twice daily. Fifth day- back to regular diet. Hope this helps.

| So sorry you went through this as well, Milo is a very smart boy....I have tried rice, potato, and oatmeal to mix with the chicken, can you believe he puts it all in his mouth and spits out the starch and only eats the chicken LOL, for us this started on Friday he had no food, yesterday some chicken, and today some chicken I have been trying to sneak in his regular kibble with small piece. HOw is Guiness feeling now? Quote:
